The simple present tense is used to refer to events, actions, and

routines that happen all the time, or exist now example:


"I live in Madrid", "She likes cheese", and "I think you're wrong" are all
in the present simple. 'I love you' is an example of the present
simple.
Affirmative grammar structure:

Pronouns + verb + complement


I live in Cali
You live in Medellin
They live in Canada
We live U.S.A
Note: if the verb is conjugated in third person or singular the verb
changes in the ending a lil bit example
Pronouns + verb + complement
He lives in Cali
She lives in Yumbo
It (animals-things) lives in my house

 Conjugating verbs in third person you must follow the next rules:
Change the verb in parenthesis into the correct form, then check your
answers.
1. He usually (go) to school.

2. She (visit) us often.

3. You (play) basketball once a week.

4. Tom (work) every day.

5. He always (tell) us funny stories.

6. She never (help) me with that!

7. Martha and Kevin (swim) twice a week.

8. In this club people usually (dance) a lot.

9. Linda (take care) of her sister.

10. John rarely (leave) the country.

11. We (live) in the city most of the year.

12. Lorie (travel) to Paris every Sunday.

13. I (bake) cookies twice a month.

14. You always (teach) me new things.

15. She (help) the kids of the neighborhood

Negative grammar structure

Talking about negative form in simple present you just add the

auxiliary don’t /doesn’t before the verb and the sense of the

sentence will change ex:

Practicing: have the students said the previous sentences in

negative in an oral way passing the ball.

To make questions in simple present what you have to add the

auxiliary do-does depending of the pronoun and the rest of the

sentence doesn’t change e.g.

You study English.


Do you study English?

Yes I do. On I don’t

In singular or 3rd person do the same

Does He/she like watch tv?

Yes he/she does no,he/she doesn’t

Grammar structure.

Aux do/does + pronouns + verb + complement

Do I study English?

Do you study English?

Do they study English?

Do we study English?

Does she study for the exam?

Does he work on Saturdays?

Does the dog bite?

Note: in question form the verb in third person goes in base form,

the verb is not conjugated
