Pastor’s Notes
Another absolutely
wonderful day this past
Sunday. How the Lord
showed up in His wondrous power and did
great and mighty things. There were at least
3 who were saved and 1 who recommitted
their life to Christ. We had a lots of guests
with us ….a good sign that the word is
getting out about our church. There were two saved in Children’s Church Sunday
morning. PRAISE THE LORD!!!!!! This new church year has started off with a
BANG!!!! 8 salvations in the last 2 ½ weeks. What we must do now is PUSH!!!!! Don’t
let up, don’t relax, don’t give up…..PUSH!!!! God has great things He wants to
accomplish here and I for one am ready to see Him do it!!!!!

Remember the Scripture that I used Sunday Morning….2 Kings 19:25 (NLT) - Have you
not heard? Long ago I prepared it, from days of old I planned it. Now I have brought it
to pass…… Listen, God has had all this planned from long ago and from time past.
Some might have thought God had forsaken us. Others may have thought He forgot us.
NO!!!!! With all the plans of God, He know the right time!!! He’s planned it and
prepared it…..NOW, He’s bringing it to pass!!!! I’m so excited that I can hardly contain
myself. If I were you, I would not miss a single service and I would invite as many of my
family and friends to come and join with you.

Well, the time is finally here!!!! This weekend

we will have our first “For Your Marriage”
Conference. I met with Jim Harbin one final
time this week to make sure we had everything
together. We both are sensing that God has some
good things in store for us. Please understand, a
conference like this can’t fix everything should you have issues. It can’t provide
everything you need to prevent you from having issues. But it can give you something to
think and ponder about. It can direct your conversations. It can give you insight as to
how you should look at things in your marriage.

We have 23 couples registered for the conference. That’s WONDERFUL!!!! Dress on

Friday night is “dressy” casual. Saturday’s dress is casual. There will be gifts given
away, music playing while you eat on Friday, fellowship, and hopefully new friendships.
This is just the beginning of the strengthening our marriages!!!! Friday’s time is 7:00 PM
and Saturday’s time is 9:00 AM (come early and enjoy continental breakfast).
Several weeks ago I announced to you that Donna Burdette would be serving as interim
Children’s Pastor. That was the intention when I set out to talk to her and Garren weeks
and weeks ago. Let me tell you the story….. When it was known that the position of
Children’s Pastor was going to be vacant, I knew that I must immediately think about
finding someone to fill that position temporarily so that our Children’s Ministry would
continue to function effectively. There was not doubt in my mind who needed to do that:
Donna Burdette. For some strange reason, I never could feel released to talk to her. I
knew that I needed to and I could not allow the Children’s Ministry to be hindered by my
failure to plan, but I just could not be released to talk to her. At the same time, Donna
and Garren had something they wanted to talk to me about, but could not feel released to
do so. Finally, Donna & Garren felt released and called to set up an appointment to talk
with me. When the appointment was set, I felt release to talk to them. Well, I had no
idea what they were wanting to talk about and I almost sat there with my mouth wide
open when they began to speak. You see, 2 years ago, the Lord placed a call on Donna’s
life to be a Children’s Pastor. She didn’t know what to do with it and was afraid to talk to
anyone about it. It reached a point where they just felt compelled to talk and felt released
by the Lord to talk about it. We sat across from each other, Donna, Garren and myself.
Donna was wanting to tell me about her call and wanted me to direct her in what to do
and specifically for me to pray that God would “open a door”. I had wanted to talk to
them about “an open door”, but just couldn’t be released to do so. At the same time, God
released us both to talk to each other….she wanting prayer for an OPEN DOOR and me
to ask her to consider an OPEN DOOR!!!!! I’m never amazed at how God’s works. All
along the way, God has given confirmation that He is in the workings of all this.

I met with a committee off the council to discuss this and then had Donna & Garren meet
with the council to share the call of God on her life, their feelings for the ministry here,
the vision and direction they think the ministry could go, among other things. After a
wonderful presentation, the council gathered around Donna & Garren and prayed over
them for God’s blessing on their life and ministry. After they left, the council discussed
the situation and unanimously agreed to extend to Donna Burdette the Children’s
Pastor Position. This will be a part-time position and is being done on a 6 month trial
basis. We are honored to have them join the pastoral staff and to have them leading our
Children’s Ministry here at WCOG. Be sure to let them know of your love and
SUPPORT of this ministry. Several ways you can support them. #1.… PRAY for them
and for the children. #2.…VOLUNTEER. They need workers. If you have a gift to
work with or teach children, please see Donna ASAP and let her know of your
willingness to help. Please understand that we do background checks on anyone working
with our children (this is for EVERYONE’S protection!!!!) #3.…GIVE. Several new
endeavors are taking place that are not part of their budget. A new Kidz Kafe` started this
past week with over 70 children being fed breakfast. See Donna Burdette to find out
what you can donate to this ministry.
Children will go skating SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 25th, so look and listen for more
details.

was the 2nd part of Pastor Emeritus, James H. Shealy’s 4 week Bible
Study entitled “The Doctrine of Christ: Earth’s Greatest Man”.
You just cannot afford to miss this series as He talks about Jesus
Christ. Powerful words were spoken and I know that this week will
be no different. We had a great attendance and this week should be
even better. It will be with YOU in attendance.

This Sunday Afternoon, September 19th at 5:00 PM, there will be a meeting for all church
members. The meeting will last for 30 minutes or so and our regular service will begin at 6:00

COMMUNITY REVIVAL
The dates this year are September 26 - 29. It will be
held at Woodruff First Baptist Church and will
begin nightly at 7:00 PM. Todd & Vickie Porter are
in charge of the music again this year. With the
attacks and threats that have been made this year
against our city’s seal and prayer, we need to stand
together!!!! This year’s theme is “FOR SUCH A
TIME AS THIS”. Don’t let anything keep you
from joining together with us!
Enoree 1st Baptist Church will be having a clothes give away on October 9th . To get
ready, they are meeting every Saturday in September from 9 to 2 to sort clothes and put
them on hangers. They have invited other churches to join them in sorting and hanging
clothes. A GREAT WAY TO HAVE FELLOWSHIP WITH OTHER CHURCHES!!!! If
you would be interested in helping, just show up at Enoree 1st Baptist Church.

How Much Does It Cost?

There are two questions that are frequently asked:
1. How much does it cost, and
2. What is it worth?

Proverbs 13:7 - There is one who makes himself rich, yet has nothing; and one who
makes himself poor, yet has great riches.

Many people are quick to tell you how much something is worth, but only the person who
actually pays for it can tell you how much it cost. But when Jesus was asked how much
our salvation cost Him, He didn’t answer with mere words. Jesus willingly stretched out
His hands to show us. He gave so much. Let us give willingly back to Him to further the
work He started so long ago.
