LEARNING OBJECTIVES : By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to:
i. Understand with little or no support a story about a child
celebrating a festival by sequencing the given events
ii. Understand with little or no support more complex questions
by filling in at least 7/10 of the missing words in the list of
incomplete questions.

i. PRE-LESSON :  Teacher shows a few items related to a selected Malaysian festival.
 Pupils respond to questions asked about the items.
ii. LESSON :  Teacher plays an audio on a simple story of a child celebrating that
DEVELOPMENT festival.
 Pupils sequence the given events according to the story.
 Teacher hands out a list of incomplete questions about the story.
 Pupils listen to the story again and complete those questions with
clues from given answers.
iii. POST-LESSON :  In pairs, pupils interview their partner about the festival that they
celebrate.

ii. Express at least 2 opinions or feelings about the character and
personality found in the given texts

i. PRE-LESSON :  Pupils watch a short clip on traveling home for Hari Raya and
respond to questions posed by the teacher.
ii. LESSON :  Teacher assigns pupils into groups and hands out different narrated
DEVELOPMENT texts on different traveling home experiences to celebrate festivals.
 Pupils list down key information from the text assigned and device
WH-questions to be asked.
 Each group present their text while others pose questions to ask
about the key information.
 At the end of each presentation, teacher gets each pupil in the
group to express at least 2 opinions or feelings about the character
and personality in the given text.
iii. POST-LESSON :  Pupils share their experiences on traveling home for a celebration.

i. Recognize with support 4 out of 6 opinions of the writer in a
story about the dos and don’ts during the celebration of a
festival.
ii. Understand specific details and information in the story by
identifying at least 3 reasons for the writer’s opinions.

i. PRE-LESSON :  Pupils think about the dos and don’ts in school.
 Teacher relates the dos and don’ts to the festivals celebrated.
ii. LESSON :  Pupils read a story about a family celebrating a festival.
DEVELOPMENT  Pupils complete a table by listing down the dos and don’ts for the
festival and the writer’s opinion towards the dos and don’ts listed.
 For each do and don’t, pupils also have to identify the reasons for
the writer’s opinions.
 Pupils compare their answers with each other.
iii. POST-LESSON :  Pupils come up with 2 dos and don’ts in celebrating their own
festival and the reasons for them.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES : By the end of lesson, pupils will be able to:
i. Explain at least 3 significant festivals in Malaysia based on the
short passage given.
ii. Organize and sequence ideas by including at least 3 important
information in the poster on a festival they have created.
iii. Spell written words in their poster with moderate accuracy by
having their peers spellcheck the posters.

i. PRE-LESSON :  Pupils respond to pictures displayed by the teacher.
ii. LESSON :  Pupils read the short passage given by teacher about 3 main
DEVELOPMENT festivals celebrated in Malaysia.
 Pupils list down at least 3 significant aspects each on the 3 main
festivals in Malaysia.
 In the same group, pupils come up with a poster to invite people
for an ‘open house’.
 They need to include the information on the open house as well as
the ones listed earlier and sequence them in a suitable manner.
 Pupils could refer to the sample of poster provided by the teacher.
iii. POST-LESSON :  Each group takes turns to display the poster while the others
spellcheck the words used in the poster.
 Each group needs to extract 3 jargons used for each specific
festival.
