 Definition of SCCP

• SCCP (Signaling Connection and Control Part ) is

one of the protocols of SS7 regulated by ITU. It
provides supplementary functions for MTP3, so as to
realize transmission of signaling information which is
either circuit-related or non circuit-related between
switches, and to establish connectionless and
connection-oriented network services.

• SCCP combined with the MTP3 is realized the network

layer of OSI.
• SCCP provides additional addressing information: SSN
– SSN: Sub System Number.
– SSN can identify more users: 8 binary bits indicate 256

numbering plan.
• SCCP can translate the GT into DPC so as to MTP3 can
