Heroes Monument, also known as Tugu Pahlawan, is located in Surabaya. It is a landmark of the
city, built on 10th November 1951 and inaugurated a year later by the first President of Republic of
Indonesia, Ir. Soekarno.
The monument was built to commemorate the events of the Battle of Surabaya on 10th November
1945 where many heroes died in the war of independence. It was also dedicated to the courage of Arek-
