Your Solution To Renewable Energy
266-5853/323-4393 SOLAR MODULES • A PV module consists of many PV cells wired in parallel to increase current and in series to produce a higher voltage. 36 cell modules are the industry standard for large power production.
• The module is encapsulated with
tempered glass (or some other transparent material) on the front surface, and with a protective and waterproof material on the back surface. The edges are sealed for weatherproofing, and there is often an aluminium frame holding everything together in a mountable unit. In the back of the module there is a junction box, or wire leads, providing electrical connections. THE SOLAR TRACKER Solar trackers are rising in popularity, but not everyone understands the complete benefits of the system. Solar panel tracking solutions are a more advanced technology for mounting photovoltaic panels. Stationary mounts, which hold panels in a fixed position, can have their productivity compromised when the sun passes to a less-than- optimal angle. Compensating for this, solar trackers automatically move to “track” the progress of the sun across the sky, thereby maximising power output. THE CHARGE CONTROLLER A charge controller or charge regulator is basically a voltage and/ or current regulator to keep batteries from overcharging. It regulates the voltage and current coming from the solar panels going to the battery. Most "12 volt" panels put out about 16 to 20 volts, so if there is no regulation the batteries will be damaged from overcharging. Most batteries need around 14 to 14.5 volts to get fully charged. THE POWER BANK The power bank of any off-grid renewable energy power system is one of the most complicated and costly components in your installation. And it's important to get it right. A power bank can be composed of a single battery or multiple, interconnected batteries that work as one large battery at a required voltage and amp-hour capacity. At Timeport, we put together 12V, 24V, 48V or 380 Volt power banks for use with required application. Call on our expert technicians at (1-868-323-4393) for any questions or to obtain an exact residential or commercial building power factor assessment. We are also happy to customise a power bank for your specific application. SOLAR INVERTER People often ask, what is an inverter? Inverters play a crucial role in any solar energy system and are often considered to be the brains of a project, whether it’s a 2-kW residential system or a 5-MW utility power plant. An inverter’s basic function is to “invert” the direct current (DC) output into alternating current (AC). AC is the standard used by all commercial appliances, which is why many view inverters as the “gateway” between the photovoltaic (PV) system and the energy off-taker. Inverter technologies have advanced significantly, such that, in addition to converting DC to AC, they provide a number of other capabilities and services to ensure that the inverter can operate at an optimal performance level, such as data monitoring, advanced utility controls, applications and system design engineering. Inverter manufacturers also provide post- installation services that are integral to maintaining energy production and a high level of performance for the project, including preventative maintenance, O&M services and a quick mean time to repair (MTTR). SYSTEM SIZING AND PRICING There are several variables that affect the optimal system size and price for a given property. The two key variables are: the amount of electricity consumed during daylight hours, and; whether or not you wish to store solar energy with a power bank for use at night. These two variables are key to determining the optimal system size for your property. Which will intern determine the price. However we do have systems beginning as low as $15,000.tt The best place to start, is by checking your most recent electricity bill and seeing how much power you use each day. Then, the bonus is on you to estimate how much power you consume during daylight hours. The next option is to have one of our technicians conduct a site visit to determine your buildings power factor. Please call 868 266-5853/323-4393 to make your appointment today.
