designed to test the knowledge of students and professionals on green building design, construction,
operation and maintenance. It is an online multiple-choice exam comprising of 110 questions split over 4
sections with each question carrying one mark. The duration of the exam is 90 minutes. To be successful,
the candidates will have to score a minimum of 85 marks. There is no negative marking for wrong answers.

The examination has the following four sections:

The main objective of this exam is to meet the growing demand for qualified Green building professionals
with holistic understanding of green building concepts. The examination is designed for stakeholders from
various backgrounds, primarily Architects, Electrical, Civil and Mechanical Engineers, Contractors, Builders,
HVAC & MEP Engineers, etc.

We are pleased to inform you that, as on date, India has over 2,300 IGBC APs who are involved in
conceptualization and design of various IGBC rated Green building projects across the country.

IGBC estimates that by 2020, India would require over 10,000 APs to handhold various green
building projects in the country. Hence, there is a growing need to have IGBC Accredited Professionals in
the country

A qualified IGBC AP shall be equipped in the following major domains:

Update on building codes & standards:

One of the pre-requisite for a building professional is to know & learn about various national and

Integrated approach:

IGBC APs will encourages builders and developers in the real estate sector to adopt a multi-disciplinary and
integrated approach in conceiving & designing green building projects. An IGBC AP facilitates the bringing
together of the best minds of the project team which enables a holistic and scientific design of the project.
This would enable the project to achieve the desired green building rating by following a clear roadmap.

Fulfilling career:

The best part of IGBC AP is the satisfaction and fulfilment it offers. It gives them an excellent opportunity to
get directly involved in the 21st century modern green building movement. It also offers an excellent
opportunity to contribute to the society and nation’s environmental goals like mitigating climate change,
reducing heat island effect, increasing green cover and water bodies, structured waste management, etc.

Part of IGBC:

IGBC APs on-field and hands-on experience is used in the design and upgradation of future IGBC Green
Building Rating Systems. They become a reference point to understand the various suggestions/
recommendations from stakeholders in the market. They also play an important role in taking forward the
green building movement through IGBC local chapters. The professionals would also get an opportunity to
interact & learn from the who’s who of national and international construction sector.

Accreditation:

Every successful student will be awarded with IGBC AP certificate which can be used as an excellent
credential while they appear for campus placements and job interviews. IGBC AP sample certificate and
