Cambridge Computer Graphics introduced the Xcellerator 1600 range of graphics display systems, aimed at CADCAM, graphics arts, and electronic publishing markets. The systems use a 32-bit graphics processor to provide a resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels on a 20-inch screen with 16 colors from a 4096 color palette. Cambridge Micro Computers showed the Vitesse V683 computer based on a 20 MHz Motorola 68030 processor and offering 4 MB of RAM standard, expandable to 16 MB. Ferranti Infographics launched Pro-Engineer, an interactive, parametric solid modeller for mechanical computer-aided engineering that offers flexibility in product definition and modification.
