Our Global Design Centre in India is engaged in Mott MacDonald projects around the world. We provide
technical design services including Civil, Structural, MEP, Architecture, Highways, Water and Utilities
infrastructure across a broad range of sectors and geographic locations.

Job Description

 Required to learn and support experienced civil and structural engineering team.
 Prepare design calculations, specifications, design reports and drawings for major infrastructure
projects. Attend meetings with clients, contractors and authority organisations.
 Individuals should be creative, innovative and willing to communicate at all levels. Willing to learn
and work with others. A desire to gain knowledge and seek solutions. A ‘can do’ attitude.
 Actively engage with existing QM/QP system to ensure that project work is delivered to the
highest standards.
 Knowledge of design programs is desired i.e. SAP2000, STAAD Pro, Robot, CAD, Revit etc.
 Be motivated to develop their career in Civil Engineering and the Built Environment and be
working towards professional qualification
Main Purpose of the Job
The Graduate Engineer will be supporting the Structural Engineering team on large building structures
portfolio across the Middle East

Key Responsibilities/Duties:
 Attendance at design co-ordination meetings and preparation of minutes
 Preparing progress reports for the team
 Assisting in the preparation of specifications, drawings etc
 Assisting in the management of change control
 Conducting inspections on a site in different locations across the region

Candidate Specification
 Minimum a recognised Bachelor’s or Master Degree (i.e. accredited by PEB)
 Working towards professional qualification and aspire to become PE and/or Chartered (CEng).
 A good academic record with excellence in structural theory and design. Good numerical and
communication skills.

To apply for this scheme you will have less than 12 months experience and have achieved 60% or
above in one of the following degree disciplines: Civil engineering or Structural engineering

 A strong work ethic and willingness to learn
 Ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently
 Confidence and high levels of motivation
 Minimum degree qualified to a Bachelors in Structural Engineering or other relevant discipline
 Innovative, creative and courageous with a hands-on approach to solving problems
 A basic understanding of BIM/Revit/Etabs or other relevant system preferred
 Exceptional communication skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels
 Strong IT systems experience
 Familiarity with project management methodology
 Ability to work on own initiative

Job description
Job Summary:
The Design Engineer is responsible to produce SGB equipment layout drawings to enable
SGB’s customers to understand how to correctly erect and safely use the equipment for its
intended purpose.

Key Responsibilities:
Ø To ensure all design solutions are produced in a practical, safe and economic way, in
accordance with customer requirements relayed by our sales team and instructions from
more senior design staff

Ø All designs adequately indicate the safe use of equipment and contain notes that clearly
define the basis of the design and the responsibilities of the customer.

Ø Consistent production of economic designs shown on clear and accurate drawings,


maximizing commercial opportunities.

Ø Clear, comprehensive, adequate, efficient production of structural calculations

Ø A Design Engineer will be able to provide guidance, mentoring and training for design staff
in the absence of the Design office Manager.

Ø Perform a checking function, to a high standard with design manager assistance where
necessary.

Ø Maintain a responsible attitude to the health and safety of self and others in accordance
with SGB legislative guidelines.

Ø Client visits with sales team to support technical matters.

Ø Site visits whenever required.

Ø Assist in the management of the design office in the absence of design manager.

Qualification & Experience:


Essential
Ø Qualifications of Degree in Construction / Civil / Structural / Mechanical Engineering
Ø 5 years of formwork / access design experience with good knowledge of formwork, shoring
and access products

Ø 2 years site experience

Ø 5 years AutoCAD design software experience

Job Working Conditions / Location:


Ø Must be able to deal with work-related deadlines, accountabilities and responsibilities

Ø Must be able to work under frequent job pressure generated by short and inflexible
deadlines

Ø Must be able to work independently and under time constraints

Ø Mainly office work, as per country working hours with overtime flexibility as necessary.

Ø Occasional visits to other offices/locations within the Region.
