INTERPOL’s Internship Programme welcomes candidates from any of our 192 member countries.
The Programme attracts talented students or recent graduates to the Organization and provides them
with:

 A better understanding of the Organization’s goals and objectives and how international police
cooperation is organized
 An insight into how an international organization operates
 A framework to enhance their educational experience through practical work assignments,
thereby developing skills which are useful for their career and future employment
 Experience of working in a multicultural, multidisciplinary and multi-ethnic environment,
contributing to the development of mutual understanding, trust and tolerance

1 PRIMARY DUTIES
The Executive Directorate for Strategy and Governance was created in 2015 to provide aligned
support to the Secretary General and our member countries on matters related to strategy and
governance, and to improve the coordination, communication and flexibility between its component
units.

The internship will take place at the INTERPOL Liaison Office to the Foundation for a Safer World
which is part of the Executive Directorate Strategy & Governance. Throughout the internship, the
selected candidate will learn how to develop and accompany a project and how to maintain internal
and external communication. Furthermore, he/she will acquire knowledge about strategic
partnerships and how to overcome problems. The intern will conduct focused research on specific
topics linked to the Foundation as well as handling administrative topics within INTERPOL.

Throughout this internship the selected applicant will provide support to the INTERPOL Liaison Office
to the Foundation for a Safer World and its activities by:

 Supporting the organization of fundraising events in collaboration with the INTERPOL


Foundation;
 Assisting in implementing the internal and external communication strategy of the Liaison
Office;
 Dealing with internal units to support the implementation phase of projects under the seven
programs funded by the INTERPOL Foundation;
 Providing administrative support to the unit;
 Drafting a wide range of documents and carrying out research as required;
 Carrying out any other duty assigned by the supervisor.

Working on different on-going projects, the selected applicant will learn:


 How to develop and accompany a project, including from a budget perspective;
 How to develop and maintain internal and external communication; strategic partnerships;
 How to overcome problems and propose solutions;
 To carry out focused research on specific topics linked to the INTERRPOL Foundation;
 How to handle administrative practices and procedures within INTERPOL.

2 REQUIREMENTS
All candidates will be assessed on the basis of the below-mentioned requirements.

 Be a national of one of INTERPOL’s 192 member countries


 Have attained the legal age of majority in their country of nationality

2.1 Training/Education
 Political, managerial or strategic education,
 Be enrolled in, or have graduated from, a post-secondary accredited academic institution
within the past six months on the date of submission of their application in the field of Political
or Social Sciences, International Relations, Economics or Business Management.

2.2 Languages
 Professional fluency in English
 Arabic would be an additional asset

2.3 Specific skills


 Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools
 SAP would be an additional asset
 Soft skills: communicative, team oriented, diplomatic and able to engage with a multi-national
environmental
 PowerPoint and Excel

In addition to the requirements, the following Assets and Special Aptitudes would be beneficial.

 A good command of any other INTERPOL official working language (Arabic, French or Spanish)
 Knowledge of any other language
 Experience in project management would be an additional asset
 A financial background would be an additional asset
 A background in working with a foundation would be an additional asset

3 APPLICATION PROCESS AND ASSESSMENT METHOD

3.1 Application process

Only applications submitted in response to a specific internship vacancy will be considered. Due to
the large number of applications received, we are unable to answer individual queries.

3.2 Assessment method

All applications will be assessed against the requirements indicated in this call for internship.
Applicants who meet these requirements most closely will be contacted by the hiring manager directly
for further consideration and assessment.

4 SECURITY CLEARANCE

A confidentiality vetting inquiry will be carried out on behalf of the Organization prior to confirming
any selection. By accepting this offer, you give the Organization expressed consent for completing this
inquiry.

If selected, you will be required to produce a certificate of non-criminal records (including spent and
unspent sentences pronounced by justice) from your country of nationality and from any other country
in which you have resided for more than 12 months in the past five years. If you are considered at a
further stage of the selection process (interview) we advise you to familiarize yourself with the
procedure for requesting such documentation in the concerned countries so that, if accepted, your
arrival to the Organization is not unnecessarily delayed.
