When To Use Fmglflext

The document discusses when a public sector management (PSM) customer should use the FAGLFLEXT or FMGLFLEXT totals tables in SAP. FAGLFLEXT can be used for segment or profit center reporting, while FMGLFLEXT contains fields for fund accounting and has predefined scenarios for public sector customers. However, either table could be used depending on a customer's specific reporting and business process needs.

Note 1400563 - When should a PSM customer use FAGLFLEXT or FMGLFLEXT

Summary
Symptom
When should a PSM customer use FAGLFLEXT or FMGLFLEXT
Other terms
FAGLFLEXT, FMGLFLEXT
Reason and Prerequisites
When should a PSM customer use FAGLFLEXT or FMGLFLEXT
Solution
With mySAP ERP 5.0 the Public Sector relevant fields like Fund
(technical name: RFUND) are not available in the standard version of
the totals table for the New General Ledger (=> FAGLFLEXT).
If you want to have the FM account assignments (i.e. Fund) in the table
and to report on them (i.e. to get full or partial balance sheets by
Fund), the table FAGLFLEXT has to be enhanced with the Public Sector
relevant fields. Please check out note 832362 for additional details.
Starting with Release SAP ERP 6.0 an Industry specific Public
Sector Template is available with totals table FMGLFLEXT. Two Public Sector
Scenarios are available in this table:
-PSM_FAC (Fund Accounting)
-PSM_GM (Grants Management)
The table FMGLFLEXT contains fields that are typically used by Public
Sector customers which use "Fund Accounting" and its predefined
scenarios.

However, it is not a requirement for the Public Sector customers to use

the totals table FMGLFLEXT.
The difference between FAGLFLEXT and FMGLFLEXT are:
- the available fields in the tables,
- the scenarios,
- predelivered reporting build on scenarios/fields.
The idea behind the different tables and scenarios is to deliver
different business content. So for private customers FAGLFLEXT offers
the possibility to do Segment Reporting (as scenario FIN_SEGM is available there),
while FMGLFLEXT offers to the PSM customers the
possibility to do Fund Accounting (as scenario PSM_FAC is available
there).
Depending on the reporting and business process requirements that
a PSM customer has, the totals table that better suits these
requirements should be used.
This means that in general, a PSM customer could use FAGLFLEXT (if
Segment or Profit Center Reporting is needed) as most of the PSM
functionality based on NewGL is table independent.
In the other hand, if a customer is using FMGLFLEXT and he wants to
report by Profit Center (the Profit Center scenario is not available
with this table), he can achieve this by creating a custom field for
the Profit Center and by adding it to the table FMGLFLEXT. Some further
explanations can be found in note 832362.

Please note that:

-The same applies to totals table PSGLFLEXT that will have two new
scenarios (PSM_BUDPER and PSM_CL) and which will be available with
EhP4.
- The Online Payment Update in Funds Management (PSM) is available with
all the totals tables: FAGLFLEXT, FMGLFLEXT and PSGLFLEXT.
- As off ERP 6.0 no standard ledger (also no leading ledger) is
delivered for Public Sector customers.
Thus each customer starting new with release ERP 6.0 needs to define hi own ledgers
in the NewGL.
