Jennie Mcdonald
Jennie McDonald is a senior in my Health Sciences 2 class. In the short time I’ve known
her, she has proven to be an exceptional student that takes pride in her work. She is
always willing to push herself in her coursework to better herself, and dedicates herself
wholeheartedly to things she enjoys doing. In school, she has pushed herself in the
form of taking advanced courses, including many honors, AP, and dual credit classes.
Her dedication reaches beyond school hours, participating in before school classes and
after school clubs. Outside of school, she is enrolled in a before-school audition choir
class; she has also done FTC robotics after school for 3 years, and is currently serving
as the co-president of the HOSA Future Health Professionals club. In HOSA, she won
3rd place for First Aid/CPR at the State Leadership conference. She also volunteers for
school events, such as freshman orientation day (a leadership role) and the yearly
Glencoe band recycling day.
As well as dedication and determination, she also displays excellent teamwork skills
and persistence regarding her growth as an individual. The best example of this is in her
participation in Glencoe’s choral department. She has been a part of this department
since her freshman year, and will be until graduation. Her sophomore year she attended
all audition periods for Glencoe’s top choir and was placed in it for her junior year,
carrying over this over to her senior year. She is currently in two choirs, and has been in
four others, including Pacific University’s Music in May honor choir. She works well with
her classmates while simultaneously becoming a stronger and more independent
musician. Another instance of Jennie’s teamwork skills and independence is in her
participation in FTC robotics. Her first year, her team, through working together, earned
three trophies, and ranked second place at a major regional competition. The following
two years, she was the team captain, as well as a backup driver in her final year.
Jennie displays a high level of competence in a wide variety of subjects. She excels
primarily in science, although she receives outstanding grades across the board. She
loves science, and wishes to pursue a career in the medical field, where she can help
others and simultaneously feed her scientific curiosity.
Sincerely,
Melanie Lewis
