Daksha Yajna
- Great yajna of daksha, which Sati who was very much anxious to attend.
- Sati begs permission from her consort Lord Shiva and he warned that she should not go to this
yajna because her father is feeling very disrespect towards me
- and he did not invite me to come at all.
- But Sati very much being wanting to have social relationship with her sisters and mother and
all other relatives, she very much insisted on going.
- So lord Shiva after warning her, he sent some of his assistants to accompany her.
Vaishnava aparadha
- When she arrived she saw how Daksha was terribly disrespecting lord shiva,
- he didn’t even recognise even his own daughter because of his relationship with Shankara.
- So considering that she had seen such a terrible offence against such a great Vaishnava, she
did not want to any longer have any physical relationship with Dhaksha.
- she invoked the fire element within her body and her body lit into flames and right in front of
everybody eyes it began to burn.
Chaos
- At that time Daksha realized the offence he had commited but it was too late.
- shiva who had heard the news had already sent Veerabhadra- another of his very powerful
associates
- they came forward and started destroying various brahmins who were supervising the yajna
Lord’s mercy
- so out of great mercy, Lord vishnu to break the attachment of shiva, he took the sudharshana
chakra and chop the sati’s body into 52 pieces
- those 52 pieces flew and landed in different places of the world and each of those places is
considered as great holy places.
- Shakti Peethas are shrines with the presence of Shakti due to the falling of body parts of the
Sati Devi, when Lord Shiva carried it.
Shakti Peeth
- The Upper Lip of Sati Devi is said to have fallen here and the Shakti is called as Mahakali.
- Later on the beautiful deity of Kali devi manifested.
- This is the 13th Shakti peetha among the 52 Shakti peethas of Sati.
- The shrine is revered as one of the 18 Maha Shakti Peetham.[11][12][13]
Parvati
- sati was meditating on shiva, so she took birth again as himavathi or parvathi the daughter of
Himawan-the king of himalayas
- she was later reunited in marriage with lord shiva after performing great great tapasya.
Name Harsiddhi
- Once when Siva and Parvati were alone on mount Kailash, two demons called Chand and
Prachand tried to force their way in.
- Lord Siva called upon Chandi to destroy them which she did.
- Pleased, Siva bestowed upon her the epithet of one who vanquishes all (Harsiddhi).
Temple
- The Temple has a deity of goddess Annapurna painted in dark vermilion color between the
deities of Maha Sarasvati and Maha Laxmi.
- It also houses the ShriYantra, a symbol of "shakti" or power.
- Being in deplorable condition this temple was renovated during the Maratha period.
- The temple turns magnificent in the evenings during festivals, when hundreds of lamps on the
15 feet lamp stand being lit together.
Prayers
- So this is a very very holy and sacred place. Let us offer our respectful obeisances and
- Let us pray to kali mata who is a great divine servant of the lord that she may destroy our
demoniac obstacles in our own heart
- So that we can forever without any reservation or interruption engage in the loving service of
Sri sri Radha krishna ,sri sri Nitai gaura chandra and their beloved devotees.

Bhadrakali
- So this deity of Bhadrakali which manifested in this very place has been here since time
Immemorial.
- Before the battle of kurukshetra, the pandavas and lord krishna came here and they
worshipped bhadrakali for the strength to defeat the kurus following social etiquette
- krishna directed the pandavas in this way and they also went to receive the blessings of lord
shiva mahadev at a temple called Thaneshwar mahadev.
- When Lord sri chaitanya mahaprabhu came to kurukshetra, he visited sanihit, ramasarovar,
Jyotisar.
- He also visited Thaneshwar mahadev and he came to offer his pranams in the mood of a
Devotee.
- In the mood of bhagavan he was coming to give his darshan in the presence of bhadrakali.
