Simulating Lte Jamming Scenarios: MSC Thesis Project

This MSc thesis project involves simulating jamming scenarios for LTE networks to analyze their impact and potential detection and mitigation techniques. The student will simulate how inexpensive jamming techniques can disrupt LTE networks and critical infrastructure like railway signaling systems. Prerequisites for the project include courses in network modeling and simulation as well as an introduction to mobile communications. The thesis is intended for a single student working 30 ECTS credit hours under the supervision of three professors.

MSc Thesis Project

Simulating LTE jamming scenarios

Introduction

While LTE is a commercially available

technology, with considerable advantages
in terms of increased capacity and
simplified network architecture, several
vulnerability risks have been reported
(http://news.cnet.com/8301-1035_3-57550805-

technique/).

Contents

The project is about simulating jamming

scenarios for LTE networks and different alternatives to detect and cope with them.
Impact in critical infrastructures, such as Railway Signaling Systems, will be an
interesting context of concern.
