INTRODUCTION

A. Background of the Study

The Philippines is an archipelago that consists of 7,641 islands and is broken up by the sea,
which gives it one of the longest coastlines of any nation in the world. Having a rich bodies of water
lies vast marine environment with biological and mineralogical resources that is still unknown to the
public and is still waiting to be discovered. For these to be discovered, it is a must to explore the
marine environment with the aid of our advanced technology.
