Job Description
A Project Engineer is responsible to the Project Manager for all aspects of engineering
work on a project. The Project Engineer’s scope could be the entire project or a physical or
process area within the project.

Responsibilities:

To perform this role successfully, the individual will be responsible for but not limited to the
following:

 Defines and manages engineering resources, both from a technical and functional
standpoint.
 Develops scope definition for engineering services, establishes project design
criteria, and approves technical documentation.
 Plans and controls engineering work, including the determination of priorities.
 Assures compliance with the project schedule, control estimates, quality
procedures and health & safety requirements.
 Coordinates the work of the various engineering disciplines.
 Maintains good client relationships.
 Analyzes problems, organizes investigations, makes decisions and
recommendations on technical issues utilizing the engineering discipline leads, and
implements conclusions.
 Fosters a spirit of enthusiasm, client focus and team building among the project’s
engineering staff.
 Provides input to salary recommendations and performance evaluations.
 Some business development responsibilities.
Desired Skills & Experience
Qualifications:

 Registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.


 8 years of technical and managerial experience in a relevant field, such as mining
& metallurgy, power generation, petrochemical and other heavy engineering
applications.
 Skills and Knowledge Required:
 A deep and thorough understanding of at least one engineering discipline in the
mining & metallurgical sector, gained through a combination of design-office and
site experience.
 A general knowledge of all pertinent engineering disciplines and a thorough
understanding of the interaction between disciplines.
 Proficiency in the control and planning of work.
 A general understanding of applicable regulatory requirements and industry
practices.
 Adequate knowledge of the company’s established guidelines, procedures and
practices.
 Ability to present reports on facts, and proposals for initiatives, to Project Managers,
clients and engineering personnel.
