Password Door Lock System

Abstract

Password Door Lock System is used in the places where we need more security and also used to
secure lockers and other protective doors. The system comprises a number keypad and the keypads are
connected to the microcontroller The system will allow the person who knows the password and it will not
allow who don’t know the password.

Introduction

Password Based Door Lock System using the 8051 microcontroller. The system demonstrates a
password based door lock system where in once the correct code or password is entered, the door is opened
and the person will be allowed to access or reach to the secured area such as their own house or other places.
If the password is wrongly typed, the door will remain closed and deny the access of the person.

Objective

I. Provide stronger security for the people and it can be used at residential places to ensure better safety.
II. It can also makes things easier for thepeoples who lazy or forgot to bring the keys as long as they can
remember the password of their own door.

Scope

The main component in the circuit is the 8051 microcontroller. In this project 4x4 keypad is used to
enter the password. The system is a simple electronic number lock system or an electronic combination lock
using 8051 – which has password stored inside the program. The system collects 5 digit user input,
compares the user input with the preset password inside program and if the user input and stored password
matches, access will be granted (by opening the door with the help of relay for a few seconds and closing it
automatically after stipulated time) . If there is a mismatch between users input and stored password, access
will be denied (by not opening the closed door – that is by keeping the relay in OFF position). The password
which is entered is compared with the predefined password. Besides, there are more components such as
LCD and relays, etc. There is also contain a few circuits such as the 16x2 LCD circuit and keypad circuit,
relay circuit, crystal oscillator circuit and push button circuit

Methodology
Although the peoples think that the traditional lock which use the mechanical lock and key is safe
enough to protect the houses. However, in this 21st century, the thieves are getting smarter and smarter
enough to figure out a lots of ways to break into the houses and cut the mechanical locks just by using the
tools.
Password Based Door Security System using Microcontroller” is used in the places where we need
more security and also used to secure lockers and other protective doors. The system comprises a number
keypad and the keypads are connected to the microcontroller AT89S2051. This is one of the popular
Microcontrollers. 20 pins and 15 input/output lines. The microcontroller has a program memory of
2Kilobytes. The microcontroller continuously monitor the keypad and if somebody enters the password it
will check the entered password with the password which was stored in the memory and if it they are same
then the microcontroller will switch on the corresponding device.The system will allow the person who
knows the password and it will not allow who don’t know the password and the system will also show the
persons who try to break the protection barrier.

The operation of this system can be described by the above block diagram, which consists of blocks
as keypad, a power supply, LCD, and Relay.The Keypad is an input device that helps to enter a code to
open the door. This block gives the entered code signals to the microcontroller. LCD are the final indicating
devices for displaying the information and alarming. The Relay can connect electric to lock to move the
door: opens and closes the door.

Conclusion
Each project has its own objectives. Similarly with this Password Door Lock System project. Although
many weaknesses have been identified but the objectives for this project have been achieved.
Based on the analysis of the circuit in creating and completing this project, it is found that this designed
project can benefit the people where it can help reduce the problem of security and forget to bring key.With
the creation of this project, at least it can help people to ensure better safety at residential places and make
easy to people because no need to use the key.
The end of the project is expected to be fully utilized, accepted and applied and in line with the
technological developments of this era and the results obtained from this project can meet the needs of all
users.
