1.3.1. Warnings
RightWON products are not designed for safety management applications or as security devices.
Mishandling of this product could cause critical situations leading to personal, equipment or
property damage, network failure, loss of data, electrical shock, serious injury or even death. To
prevent such events from occurring:
Take all possible measures to ensure the safety of your systems through the use of
appropriate equipment that meets the needs of the application. This will help preserve
the integrity of your systems in the event of product failure or other external factors.
To prevent the risk of explosion, do not use RightWON products in areas where
explosives are stored without taking appropriate measures as defined by the standards
and regulations in effect, obtained from the proper local authorities.
To prevent damage to electronic components, do not expose this product to open flame
or submit it to environmental factors that exceed the recommended levels.
Batteries may explode if they are not handled with care. Do not recharge, disassemble or
dispose of in fire. We recommend that you recycle these items by taking them to the
appropriate collection service.
1.3.2. Cautions
Make sure that RightWON products are managed by qualified personnel who have been
properly trained to install, configure and troubleshoot them.
Always configure and operate this product within the recommended technical
specifications and operating criteria recommended by Vizimax, as cited in this manual
and the other specification documents available.
Use homologated external emergency devices, including but not limited to: emergency
stop, emergency signaling, interlock and safety circuitry.
Properly connect and secure removable cables and connectors. Loose connections could
overheat and catch fire.
Protect all power supplies and connect to ground on the equipment using an appropriate
connection. Failure to protect and/or ground the equipment could lead to fatal electrical
shock.
Take all possible measures to prevent foreign materials from falling into the product
interior (liquids, flammable materials, metal objects, etc.).
Turn the equipment off and disconnect all sources of power before undertaking any
procedure whatsoever on the equipment.
2.1. Default access and login information for the Switch MCU
The Switch MCU can be configured using the CLI which can be accessed using a terminal or
Telnet connection. It can also be configured using the WEB interface, except that Telnet
password can only be changed using the CLI. The Switch MCU can be accessed using the
following default information:
Telnet access has no default password. Press enter without any information. It is
recommended to add a Telnet password.
Command Line Interface (CLI) has no default password. You will be notified of it only, not
prompted.
Default information to access the WEB interface using a browser (e.g.: Explorer, Firefox,
etc.):
o Default IP Address: 192.168.0.2
o Web access username: admin
o Web access default password: 123
Note: It is strongly suggested that the WEB interface password and IP address are
changed using the CLI or the WEB interface.
2- Integration and configuration of the Switch MCU into a network using the CLI or WEB
interface, example of configurations with WEB interface.
3- Saving the WEB configuration
2.2.1. Documents
To configure a network using the WEB interface, refer to the document "WEB
management user manual for SICOM L2 Ethernet switches".
To configure a network using the Command Line Interface (CLI), refer to "SICOM series
Industrial Internet Switch Command Line Configuration Manual".
2.2.2. Assessing the Switch MCU using Command Line Interface (CLI)
The CLI can be access using a terminal or Telnet connection. The most important items to
configure using the CLI are: IP address and password of the MCU’s WEB interface and the telnet
password. You can also choose to disable certain protocol, like telnet.
web-authentication Sets the web server access password. The username is always
admin.
load default Restore default configuration, also reset to default IP address and password.
2.2.3. Basic initial configuration of the Switch MCU using the CLI
For a basic configuration of the Switch MCU, enter the following commands:
Note: In the prompt, enter the command then press Enter on the keyboard to set a
configuration.
enable
config terminal
ip address 192.168.0.2 mask 255.255.255.0
Note: This will set the IP address to 192.168.0.2 and the mask to
255.255.255.0. Adjust the IP address and mask as needed.
telnet password Abcd3f
Note: This will set the telnet password to Abcd3f. Change the password to
a more secure one.
web-authentication password Abcd3f
Note: This will set the web access password to Abcd3f. Change the
password to a more secure one.
end
save
You can now integrate and configure the Switch MCU into a network.
2.2.4. Accessing the Switch MCU configuration using the WEB interface
The Switch MCU’s WEB interface can be accessed using the following steps:
1- Open a WEB browser (e.g.: Firefox, Explorer, Chrome, etc.).
2- Enter the IP address of the Switch to access the WEB interface (e.g.: http://192.168.0.2)
Use default IP address if you haven’t configured a new IP address.
3- Enter the login name: admin.
Enter the password, use default password if you haven’t configured a new password
using the CLI.
You can configure the IP address and password using the WEB interface if you haven’t already
configured it using the CLI. Then, you can configure the switch to integrate into a network.
2.2.5. Basic initial configuration of the Switch MCU using the WEB interface
Note: For the complete list of web management commands, refer to the document "WEB
management user manual for SICOM L2 eth. switches".
In section “Basic Configurations” of that manual, follow the instruction to configure the
password and address IP of the WEB interface.
You can now integrate and configure the Switch MCU into a network.
NOTE: Ports FE1 and FE2, located in the bottom panel of the MCU, are both reserved for
RightWON MCU interconnections. As such we recommend that you don’t use them in any
configurations.

Please note that by default the Path Cost will be automatically computed based
on the interface speed. If you need to specify costs manually you will have to
change the Cost Count value to NO.

To help prevent downtime in the network, it is recommended to configure the new MCU
units first and then to connect them to the DT-Ring network.
DT-Ring can realize fast recovery in the event of a break in the ring, however time delay still
exists. The time delay can be figured out by the formula:
Max recovery time = (Quantity of the switches in the ring x 2.5 + 10) ms
The maximum recovery time is related to the quantity of switches in one ring, more Switches
the network has, slower will be the recovery time.
An example of a DT-ring network configuration using the WEB interface is shown in the next
figure.
1- In Ports Settings section, make the appropriate changes to Domain Name, Domain
Id, Station Type, Ring Port1 and Ring port2, DT-RING+.
Ring Port1 and Ring Port2: The RightWON Satellite MCU ESM-4 type (RWU
030004) allows you to decide which ports will participate in the DT-Ring, only 2
ports can participate in a DT-Ring network. Refer to section on ports assignment
(Ports FE1 and FE2 are both reserved).
Station Type: Only one Switch can be set as the ring master, the other Switches
need to be configured as slave.
The Domain ID must be the same for all the switches participating in the DT-
Ring.
For management ease, the Domain Name should also be the same for all
Switches.
2- Click Apply to save the changes.
3- In DT-RING State List section, a properly configured ring will report the status Ring
State: RING-CLOSE.
4- After configuring the network, you need to save your configuration.
