Overview
1Display Specifications

The Video Format and Specification section supplies information about the G20 system
video formats used during imaging. This information is divided into the following sections:

Display Formats and Specifications 0

Display Formats
Display formats are displayed while imaging in 2-D or M-mode. 2-D mode uses three
video display formats and M-mode uses five video formats.
The following table describes the 2-D mode display formats:

2-D Mode Display 2-D Mode Display Description

Single mode 2-D image displays a full-screen image.

Dual 2-D images display side-by-side in one of three ways:

• Dual 2-D images display that have identical imaging parame-
ter settings. The left-side displays is the actual image and
right-side image displays with post-processing applied.
• Dual 2-D images display that have independent imaging pa-
rameter settings.
• Activate Pan or Zoom on either of the dual displays. The track-
ball controls the position of the Zoom and Pan functions. The
Depth/Zoom knob actives and controls the Zoom function for
a zoom factor of up to five times the image size.
Quad 2-D images display independent imaging parameter sets
on each image, but uses identical modality for the quad images.
Only one image will be real-time.

The following table describes the M-mode display formats:

M-mode Display M-mode Display Description

M-mode images displays a full-screen variable-speed sweep.

Displays a 2-D image and an M-mode sweep simultaneously.

When zooming either the 2-D image or the M-mode image can
be zoomed.

Organize the position of both the 2-D and M-mode screens as

desired for individual preferences.

Zooming either the 2-D image or the M-mode sweep will zoom
both the image and the sweep simultaneously.

Video Specifications
The 2-D and M-modes are available on all G20 transducers. 2-D mode is available in all
display formats; M-mode is available in the full screen display format, but not available
during Dual or Quad 2-D mode display formats.

Sweep Speed The M-mode image sweep speed is selectable. Choose from the
following sweep speeds: 2.0 s, 4.0 s, 8.0 s, or 16.0 s. The sweep
speed is displayed in seconds (s) when a full screen is selected;
the sweep speed displays in millimeters per second (mm/s)
when Dual or Quad screen displays are selected.
Acoustic Line Den- Acoustic line density supports single and high resolution and are
sity selectable. The acoustic line density, frame rate, depth, and
transmit focus are all affected when any of these settings are
changed. The G20 system automatically optimizes these setting
each time a change to one of them is made.

Imaging Depth or Imaging depth is transducer dependent and can be adjusted

Field of View (FOV) within the transducer dependencies.
(For specification details see the transducer catalog at url,
http://www.acuson.com/transducers/catalog/index.htm)
Transmit Focus Transmit Focus is available during 2-D imaging and has three
selectable modes: Single, Dual and Quadruple.
• Single focus is transducer frequency dependent. The default
setting for single focus is set for the maximum depth and has
eight selectable focal positions. Dual focus, depending on the
depth selection, reduces the frame rate. The default setting
for dual focus is the maximum depth for each transducer fre-
quency. There are eight selectable focal positions that can be
positioned in the image. Quadruple focus, depending on the
depth selection, reduces the frame rate. Each transducer fre-
quency has eight selectable focal positions which can be po-
sitioned in the image.
Dynamic Focus Dynamic focus is supported for linear and convex transducers
for 2-D and M-mode imaging. This dynamic focus is applicable
to focusing in scanning direction.
Transmit Aperture The transmit aperture control changes the transmit aperture size
Control according to the focal depth.
Receive Aperture During 2-D and M-mode imaging with an array transducer, the
Control receive aperture control increases the aperture up to 48 chan-
nels.
Gain Control The gain control increases or decreases gain (from 0 to 40 dB in
increments of 1 dB) of the entire 2-D or M-mode image. The gain
control for 2-D and M-mode are independent from one another.
The gain control can be used in combination with the DGC slid-
ers.
Note: The scan width is selectable; when the scan width is
decreased the frame rate increases.
DGC Control The DGC controls increase or decrease 2-D gain at the eight
focal points of the image (from 0 to 30 dB in 1 dB increments).
One DGC slider is assigned to each focal point. The DGC curve
is displayed on the monitor; the duration of the monitor display
can be set to: off, time out, or always.
Persistence For 2-D images, select from up to five persistence levels includ-
ing 0 (OFF). The exact value depends on the difference between
current frame image and previous frame image. The levels are:
Previous / Current: OFF(0/100), 15/85, 30/70, 40/60, 50/50, and
60/40.

8 Display Specifications

Edge Enhancement Select from four edge enhancement levels including OFF. Dur-
ing simultaneous mixed 2-D and M-modes, echo enhancement
is individually selectable for both modes.
Dynamic Range Select a dynamic range setting from 35 to 70 dB in 1 dB incre-
ments. During simultaneous mixed 2-D and M-modes, dynamic
range is individually selectable for both modes.
Gray Scale Pro- • Seven gray scale maps are available for postprocessing. The
cessing selected postprocessing map will display on the monitor.
• Seven postprocessing map curves are available to optimize
gray scale mapping for 2-D images.
Zoom The amount a 2-D image can be zoomed is dependent on the
transducer frequency. Zooming a 2-D image optimizes the
image quality and the acoustic condition. Select a Region of
Interest (ROI) on a 2-D image, and then enlarge the ROI.
