Winter Semester (2017-18)


Course Name: Architecture and Town Planning Due-Date :Feb 7th 2018
Description: Select a country of your choice and select any five buildings which are famous
in that particular country. Obtain plans and elevation of these buildings from the web. Analyze
the form and elevations and find out any three ordering principles given in the list below.
You can choose both plan and elevation to analyze the ordering principles. Example two
ordering principles for plan and one for elevation(At least one has to be for plan).

Ordering Principles
1. Axis
2. Symmetry
3. Hierarchy
4. Datum
5. Rhythm
6. Balance, proportion, scale, contrast

Symmetry : The building is symmetrical in elevation along the line passing through the center.
Rhythm : Each floor dimension (Width) is designed in such a way that there is a rhythmic pattern
at the edge as we move from floor to floor.
Rhythm : The rhythmic arrangement of pair of blue texture applied in elevation.

You will be submitting three ordering principles for five building a total of fifteen ordering
principles with pictures.
