Pipeline Integrity Engineer 

 
The pipeline integrity engineer provides support and direction in the areas of pipeline integrity, corrosion control, 
corrosion monitoring, failure analysis and materials engineering. The pipeline integrity engineer also provides training 
and direction to pipeline integrity personnel. 
Duties and Responsibilities 
 Provide training and direction to pipeline integrity personnel 
 Develop and Maintain Pipeline Operation & Maintenance Manuals (POMM) 
- Integrity Management Plans (IMP) 
- POMM body & appendices 
 Conduct pipeline risk assessments 
 Conduct field training with owners with respect to pipeline operations 
- POMM rollouts 
- Training to pipeline procedures  
- Explain regulatory requirements 
 Assume role of “pipeline integrity coordinator” for assigned pipeline operators 
 Perform regular reviews of pipeline information for assigned operating areas 
- New pipelines 
- Decommissioned pipelines 
- Production information 
- Pipeline fluid changes (affecting corrosive conditions) 
- Mitigation, monitoring, and inspection activity results 
 Direct corrosion mitigation, inspection, and corrosion monitoring activities for assigned operating areas 
 Track pipeline integrity program compliance and assist owners to meet requirements 
Qualifications 
Education 
B.Sc. Engineering or Certified Engineering Technologist 
Specialized knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 
 Knowledge of federal and provincial pipeline codes and regulations 
 Knowledge of API standards applicable to pipeline and pressure equipment inspection, testing, and corrosion 
control 
 Good written and verbal communication skills 
 Thorough understanding of common deterioration mechanisms in pipelines 
 Knowledge of pipeline corrosion mitigation strategies 
 Knowledge of pipeline inspection methods 
Certifications and Training 
 NACE “Internal Corrosion for Pipelines” Course 
 NACE “Basic Corrosion” Course 
 CSA Z662 Course 
Experience 
5 or more years of pipeline integrity program involvement in the upstream oil and gas sector
