EEE 5 Homework 01: Instructions

This document contains instructions for a homework assignment on electrical circuits. Students are asked to analyze circuits diagrams and answer 10 questions regarding the number of nodes, resistors in parallel and series, and calculating equivalent resistances and currents based on given resistance values. They are to show their work and box their final answers.

Questions:

1. How many nodes are there in the circuit?

2. Is/are there any resistor/s in parallel with R1? If yes, list the resisor/s.

3. Is/are there any resistor/s in parallel with R2? If yes, list the resisor/s.

4. How many nodes are there in the circuit?

5. Is/are there any resistor/s in series with R3? If yes, list the resisor/s.

6. Is/are there any resistor/s in series with R4? If yes, list the resisor/s.

7. Suppose you are to simplify the resistor network into one single resistor across nodes A and B. What will be the
value of this equivalent resistance (again, across nodes A and B) given the folowing resistance values: R1=5 ohms,
R2 = 10 ohms, R3=6 ohms, R4 = 20 ohms, R5 = 15 ohms, R6 = 5 ohms. Hint: a short or a wire has 0 ohm
resistance.

8. Determine the value of the current IX.

9. What is the value of the resistance RC.

10. What is the value of the resistance RB.
