The International Cricket Council wishes to appoint a

Development Officer – Americas

The International Cricket Council (‘ICC’) is the global governing body for the sport, which administers all aspects of
international cricket. Its Development Programme has specific strategic objectives aimed at the sustainable
development and strengthening of the sport globally.

We are currently seeking a Development Officer for the Americas region based in our Colorado Springs office. The
role works closely with the Development Manager – Americas and is responsible for supporting the growth of cricket
in the Americas, in partnership with Cricket West Indies and the ICC Associate Members in the Americas. This
position will play a leading role in increasing participation and improving the cricket experience for all participants
through the implementation of ICC Mass Participation and Social Cricket programmes as well as Training and
Education programmes in our 16 Associate Members in the Americas.

Principal Accountabilities

Responsibilities of the Development Officer – Americas will include but are not limited to the following:

 Partner with Associate Members in the Americas to increase participation in cricket and improve the cricket
experience for all participants:
 Working with identified Member countries to plan and deliver effective participation programmes
which support their long term strategic objectives relating to growth;
 Supporting Member countries in creating an infrastructure that fosters the delivery of high quality
cricket programmes, including an effective workforce;
 Assisting Member countries in building an effective training and education workforce to increase the
quality and quantity of coaches and umpires; and
 Sharing best practices, initiatives and resources around Mass Participation, Training and Education.
 Deliver agreed support to Accelerated Growth Countries in the Americas, with a game development focus:
 Guiding, mentoring and sharing resources across game development components; and
 Facilitating the connection between ICC Associate Members and Cricket West Indies.
 Provide desktop support to all ICC Associate Members in the Americas on game and market development:
 Sharing best practices, initiatives and resources.
 Lead the establishment of effective partnerships between ICC and Cricket West Indies around Mass
Participation, Training and Education.
 Be a strong contributor to the ICC Global Development Team:
 Connecting regularly with counterparts in other locations on global initiatives and sharing of good
practices; and
 Taking on additional global projects, as required in relation to providing cricket development expertise
to ICC Members.
Knowledge, Skills, Attitude and Experience

 A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area;


 Proven expertise in game development with good understanding of wider aspects within the sports industry;
 Experience in managing sports participation programmes;
 Experience in managing coaching and / or official education courses;
 Experience in project/programme planning, design and budget management;
 Understanding of good governance and administration;
 Ability to work with stakeholders from different backgrounds across cultural and national identities;
 Sound analysis and judgement and strong attention to detail;
 Self-motivated with a high work ethic, ability to solve problems and dependable;
 A team player with the energy and passion to take initiative and seek continuous improvement;
 Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) including ability to communicate with people at all levels;
 Ability to plan, organise and work effectively, both independently and as part of a team;
 Ability to work under pressure and handle stress; and
 A good understanding and passion for the game of cricket.

Conditions of employment
 The position reports to the ICC’s Development Manager - Americas and is based in Colorado Springs;
 The role involves regular working hours while recognising the need to be flexible, at times, considering different
time zones and travel commitments (including across weekends);
 There will be a reasonable amount of travel required as part of this role;
 Candidates must have existing USA work credentials and no overseas relocation will be provided;
 The selected candidate will be required to provide two recent work references; and
 Compensation offered will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
