Bloom's Taxonomy

Bytes, kilobytes, megabytes, gigabytes, and terabytes are units used to measure data storage. Knowing the size of a file or folder in any of these units allows one to calculate the number of bytes used by converting based on standard definitions, such as 1 KB = 1024 bytes. For example, a 50 KB file equals 51,200 bytes, and a 1 GB flash drive could store around 20,971 files of that size.

Calculating Data Storage

The terms bytes (B), kilobytes (KB), megabytes (MB), gigabytes (GB), and terabytes (TB) are used when pertaining to storage space. CDs,
DVDs, hard drives, random access memory (RAM), and MP3 players usually use byte storage.

It is possible to find out the number of bytes being utilized once we know the file or folder size. The table of measures above will be very
helpful. For example:

A file is 50 KB in size

1 KB = 1024 bytes

50 x 1024 = 51, 200 bytes in a 50 KB file

If a 50 KB file is stored in a 1 GB flash drive (1 gigabyte = 1, 073, 741, 824 bytes), then approximately a total of 20, 971 files can be stored in
that flash drive (1, 073, 741, 824 ÷ 51, 200 = 20971.5)
