Im Project Proposal

Lauren Muma proposes a student project to create a flow graph program using GNU Radio software that can track and identify radio frequencies, allowing the determination of where frequencies are located. The project aims to help the military identify other bases by their radio frequencies. To complete the project, Lauren will research radio waves and complete GNU Radio tutorials to learn how to use the necessary software and equipment, which will be supplied by APL, including a computer, monitor, and drone.

Student Project Proposal- Intern/Mentor Program

The purpose of this project is to find a way to identify and track radio frequencies,
allowing me to determine where the frequencies are located. I will be creating a flow graph
program using a computer software called GNU Radio that will allow me to track and identify
these radio frequencies. The intended audience for this project is the military because they could
use a variation of this flow graph to help them identify where other military bases are based on
the radio frequencies they can track. To gain the knowledge necessary to complete this project I
have been researching radio waves and how they work. I have also been completing tutorials for
Linux, Ubuntu, and GNU Radio, the computer software that are necessary to work on this
project. These tutorials teach me how to use the software as well as what they do so that I am
able to use them correctly and to the best of my ability. To complete this project I will be using a
computer, monitor and a drone that will be supplied by APL. They have the supplies readily
available which is why we are able to complete this project. APL already has the software that I
am using, so I can download it to my computer for free. Special permission to work on this
project is given by APL and my mentor.
