Active Cell - refers to a cell in Excel spreadsheet that is currently selected by clicking
mouse pointer or keyboard keys.
B. Application Window - The rectangular-shaped viewing area on screen that you are
working in.
C. Cell - the most basic storage unit available in a spreadsheet program such as Excel or
Google Spreadsheet. Data entered into spreadsheet program is always stored in a cell.
D. Cell Reference - The identification of a specific cell by its intersecting column letter and
row number.
E. Chart Sheet - a Microsoft Excel worksheet that is dedicated to one chart
F. Column - vertical series of cells in a chart, table, or spreadsheet. Named with letters

H. Fill Handle - a feature that allows the user to extend (and fill) a series of numbers, dates,
or even text to a desired number of cells.
I. Floating Toolbar - toolbar that can be moved anywhere on the screen, unlike the
traditional toolbar that is fixed at the top of the screen.
J. Formula Bar - toolbar at the top of the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet window that you can
use to enter or copy an existing formula into cells or charts.

R. Row - a series of data banks laid out in a horizontal fashion in a table or spreadsheet.

S. Selection - a highlighted cell or group of cells, or a highlighted chart or figure
T. Sheet - current worksheet that is being displayed
U. Split Bar - The bar or line that divides a screen or window that has been split.
V. Spreadsheet - interactive computer application for organization, analysis and storage of
data in tabular form. Spreadsheets are developed as computerized simulations of paper
accounting worksheets.
W. Status Bar - a row at the bottom of a window that displays information about the window,
as the status of a web page load or details of an open document
X. Tab Scrolling Buttons - Buttons to the left of the sheet tabs used to display Excel sheet
tabs that are not in view
Y. Tip Wizard - provides the user with a list of all possible functions in Excel grouped by
category.
Z. Toolbar - graphical control element on which on-screen buttons, icons, menus, or other
input or output elements are placed
AA. Tool Tip - a tip given to an object when the mouse cursor is placed over it
BB. Workbook Window - the window that opens when a workbook is displayed
CC. Worksheet - single spreadsheet that contains cells organized by rows and columns
DD. Operations - mathematical processes that must follow a certain order in solving a
problem

FF. Argument - the values that functions use to perform calculations.
GG. Drag and Drop - move (an image or highlighted text) to another part of the screen
using a mouse or similar device.
HH. Auto Sum - A function in a spreadsheet program that inserts a formula in the
selected cell that adds the numbers in the column above it or in the rows beside it

it is from some other cell.

that refer to other cells
