A Secure Iot Based Modern Health Care System Using Rpi
ABSTRACT
In this system we used raspberry pi as a controlling purpose. ECG sensor, temperature sensor,
heart beat are used as input purpose. Output side we used LCD for display purpose. We send
value of that sensor on particular mail id. And also show on cloud i.e. thing speak.

In India, everyday many lives are affected because the patients are not timely and properly
treated. Also for real time parameter values are not efficiently measured in clinic as well as in
hospitals. Sometimes it becomes difficult for hospitals to frequently check patient’s
conditions. Also continuous monitoring of ICU patients is not possible. To deal with these
types of situations, our system is beneficial. Our system is designed to be used in hospitals for
measuring and monitoring various parameters like temperature, ECG, heart beat etc. The
results can be recorded using Raspberry Pi displayed on a LCD display. Doctors can login to
a website and view those results. Health is one of the global challenges for humanity. In the
last decade the healthcare has drawn considerable amount of attention. The prime goal was to
develop a reliable patient monitoring system so that the healthcare professionals can monitor
the patients, who are either hospitalized or executing their normal daily life activities.
Recently, the patient monitoring systems is one of the major advancement because of its
improved technology. Currently, there is need for a modernized approach. In the traditional
approach the healthcare professionals play the major role. They need to visit the patient’s
ward for necessary diagnosis and advising. There are two basic problems associated with this
approach. Firstly, the healthcare professionals must be present on site of the patient all the
time and secondly, the patient remains admitted in a hospital, bedside biomedical
instruments, for a period of time. In order to solve these two problems, the patients are given
knowledge and information about disease diagnosis and prevention. Secondly, a reliable and
readily available patient monitoring system (PMS) is required. In order to improve the above
condition, we can make use of technology in a smarter way. In recent years, health care
sensors along with raspberry pi play a vital role. Wearable sensors are in contact with the
human body and monitor his or her physiological parameters. We can buy variety of sensors
in the market today such as ECG sensors, temperature sensors, pulse monitors etc. The cost
of the sensors varies according to their size, flexibility and accuracy. The Raspberry Pi which
is a cheap, flexible, fully customizable and programmable small computer board brings the
advantages of a PC to the domain of sensor network.
LITERATURE SURVEY
1. IoT Based Health-Care System Using Raspberry Pi
Generally in critical case patients are supposed to be monitored continuously for their Heart
Rate, oxygen saturation level and temperature as well. In the previous methods, the doctors
need to be present physically on sight or in several cases SMS will be sent using GSM. In the
earlier case only current data is displayed, the history of the patient cannot be displayed. In
the current paper, we are analyzing different methods and techniques used for health care
monitoring system where doctor can continuously monitor the patient's condition on his
smart phone and also the patient history will be stored on the web server and doctor can
access the information whenever needed from anywhere.
3. REVIEW ON-IOT BASED SMART HEALTHCARE SYSTEM
This paper focus on review of IoT based Smart Healthcare System. The main objective of this
proposed system is to transmitting the patient’s health monitoring parameters through wireless
communication. These input data are uploaded in cloud server and transmitted to the computer and
mobile for family and doctor’s reference. Advances in information and communication technologies
have lead to the emergence of Internet of Things (IoT). In the modern health care environment, the
usage of IoT technologies brings convenience of physicians and patients, since they are applied to
various medical areas (such as real-time monitoring, patient information management, and
healthcare management). The body sensor network (BSN) technology is one of the core technologies
of IoT developments in healthcare system, where a patient can be monitored using a collection of
tiny powered and lightweight wireless sensor nodes. However, the development of this new
technology in healthcare applications without considering security makes patient privacy vulnerable.
In this paper, at first, we highlight the major security requirements in BSN-based modern healthcare
system. Subsequently, we propose a secure IoT-based healthcare system using BSN, called BSN-Care,
which can efficiently accomplish those requirements.
MOTIVATION
• Recently, monitoring the physiology of patients and personal health care has
been integrated in modern wireless e-health systems.
• The sensor moniter the person health and when value of H.B or temprature of patient
is exeeds above a set value the sensor send data through mail.
Old age patients and children with heart problems should be periodically monitored.
Our proposed system uses sensors that allow to detect heart rate of a person using
temp and heart beat sensor.
The patients in the ICU need a constant monitoring of their Temperature and heart
beat.
This project is a working model, which incorporates sensors to measure important
parameters namely the Temperature, and Heart Beat, ECG.
The patient can be analyzed by doctors in any part of the hospital wherever they are.
Even when the patient is in an unconscious condition, all the parameters will be
sensed and doctor will be cautioned, thus it reduces doctor’s workload and also gives
more accurate results.
Thus it reduces doctors work load and also gives more accurate results,
The user may set high levels as well as low levels of heart beat limit.
Giving alert indication through buzzer.
ADVANTAGES:-
Ease of operation.
Low maintenance cost.
Fit and forget system.
Accuracy.
Low cost hardware unit and user friendly.

WORK DONE
So, I want to do my ME project. Firstly I need to fixed my domain. Then I find that after
searching I decided that to implement the project in embedded domain.
Then I read some IEEE paper related to the embedded domain. Finaly I got the project “A
SECURE IOT BASED MODERN HEALTH CARE SYSTEM USING RPI” .
After I submited this paper to guide, I gave presentation on this topic. After that on given
date I submited the synopsis to guide.
EXISTING SYSTEM:-
In existing system data get monitoring using person’s heartbeat was generally measured
personally by connecting patch cord on their chest. This created a problem to keep a tab on
patient’s health and provide treatment in case of emergency. Lately, measurement of
Heartbeat and Temperature is done with the help of stethoscope and thermometer which
require personal visit. GSM module also Use for updating patient Health Parameter. But
because of GSM range limitations GSM not use widely.
PROPOSED SYSTEM:-
In proposed system when any sensor is detected then here we send mail. There is inbuilt
Wifi in raspberry pi. LCD display all sensor value. Alert indication through buzzer.

RASPBERRY PI:- Raspberry Pi Model, 512 Mb with a nice black plastic case: The
Raspberry Pi is a low cost, credit-card sized computer that plugs into a computer monitor or
TV, and uses a standard keyboard and mouse. It has the ability to interact with the outside
world, and has been used in real time applications. This board is the central module of the
whole embedded image capturing and processing system as given in figure. Its main parts
include: main processing chip, memory, power supply HDMI Out, Ethernet port, USB ports
andabundant global interfaces.
TEMP SENSOR:- The LM35’s low output impedance, linear output, and precise inherent
calibration make interfacing to readout or control circuitry especially easy. It can be used
with single power supplies, or with plus and minus supplies. As it draws only 60 μA from its
supply, it has very low self-heating, less than 0.1°C in still air. The LM35 is rated to operate
over a −55° to +150°C temperature range, while the LM35C is rated for a −40° to +110°C
range

CONCLUSION
Here we have designed a simple, low-cost controller based “HEALTH CARE SYSTEM
USING RPI”(heart beat), blood pressure and body temperature for personal health
monitoring. All sensors should also be calibrated properly for precise measurement of
parameters and in order to facilitate immediate action. This technology can also be setup at
the patient’s own house with the assistance of the family. Home care represents a growing
field in the health Assistance. It reduces costs and increases the quality of Life saving of
patients. As the modern life becomes more stressful and acute diseases appear, prolonged
treatments become more necessary. The same occurs for the elderly or handicapped patients.
It reduces the need of transporting patients between house and hospital.
