Step One: Gather Interesting Ideas: Prepare A Project Report

The document outlines the steps for students to develop a project to apply their learning in a practical way. It involves gathering ideas, planning development, documenting the process, and presenting the final project. Students are to submit a proposal, divide the work into modules, test outcomes, and maintain records of their work, results, and schedule. The final assessment evaluates execution, the system, documentation, and presentation.

The project is one of the primary mechanisms used to provide students with an opportunity to

gain experience in the practical and beneficial application of what they have been studying for
the past several days/months. It is particularly important that the student learns not just to apply
what they know, but to apply it with judgment, with the ability to assess what they are doing and
to be critical of it.

Step One: Gather Interesting Ideas

i. Find out what are new ideas with the help of faculty.
ii. Short list the project title from findings. Project must contain sufficient information that
reflects the student’s initiative, independent study and productivity.
iii. Collect more information for developing the project such as-what equipments or material
you need to develop the project.
iv. Prepare a synopsis/proposal for project. Synopsis should contain problem statement
(Project title), problem solution (how project will be developed) and expected outcome of
your project. Also you should include your timeline and estimate. Submit this 1-2 page
synopsis.

Step Two: Planning and development of Ideas

i. Divide the work if developing in a group. Highlight specific job or experiments performed by any
student.
ii. Make a list with a short description of what is involved in the project. Find out what you want the
final system to do and how it should behave, write it down, and get everyone involved to agree to
it.
iii. Design your system with the help of design methodology such as Algorithm, Flow charts, Data-
structures or sequence diagrams.
iv. Don’t develop a whole project at a time; instead divide it into parts/modules.
v. Start developing these modules one by one.
vi. Test your system for expected outcomes as well as unexpected outcomes. Note success of your
system and failure also.

Step Three: Documenting

It is essential to maintain documentation for each and every stage of your system development.
Maintain a project book: write down everything you do on the project into this book every day.
Prepare a project Report
Report should include-
i. Goal: Give a short description of the project in 1-2 lines.
ii. Synopsis: Provide an synopsis of the first report i.e. Initial description
iii. Introduction: A brief description to project statement(Problem statement) with solution.
Solution should include system design, modules details, system requirement, Task
analysis- System working observations.
iv. Results: it should include outcome of your system.
v. Future work: how system can be implemented in different ways or how it can be applied
on other systems
vi. Summary: Summaries the whole project in few sentences.
vii. References(if any)

Step Four: Assessment of the project

It includes your project presentation and viva.
Section Percentage Mark Awarded Date
Project Execution 15%
Final System 45%
Project Report 20%
Final Presentation 20%

Data should be Maintained during the Project

Project work record:
It is extremely important that you document your work at every stage of your project. Find out
what you want the final system to do and how it should behave, write it down, and get everyone
involved to agree to it. Record the outcome of your system along with different inputs.
Description Impact Actions Taken

Project Performance:
List the primary tasks and sub-tasks required to carry out the project and an overview of the
project schedule, giving the timings. Keep track of your project.
