PC To PC Data Transfer Using PLCC
Abstract
Data transfer is a single phenomenon that can be said for communication between different
people / computer or to communication between machines or even remote control and monitoring
operations. The project proposes a unique way of putting power lines as a medium for data transfer
and more importantly bi-directionally. The project can be demonstrated in several ways by
transmitting real time information between different departments inside a college or between
different security applications in a large set up or even different control applications in an industry.
In case of wireless control it is either through RF waves or through optical medium like an infrared
beam. In wired remote control there is a need for wires or sometimes optical fibers to carry the
control information. In any case there is a need for a extra medium to achieve the remote control.
The microcontroller used is a high Speed microcontroller for fault free operation. It has a variety of
advantages over conventional old microcontrollers such as RISC architecture, larger memory word,
fast operation and a host of inbuilt features such as ADC, communication protocols etc.,.
This project aims at transferring the data from a PC to PC using PLCC. Hence this project makes use
of the already existent power lines to transfer the data. Further as the system is completely
bidirectional, the same power line can be used to receive data from the transmission line.
For this PLCC will be used that can transmit and receive digital data over the existing power lines,
along with the power itself. On the receiving side the data can be separated from the power lines
and can be viewed on a computer or other display devices like LCD displays.
Existing System
1. In the existing system, for the purpose of data transfer, a separate wired/wireless medium is
used for communication.
Proposed System
1. In the proposed system, extra medium is not used instead the power lines itself is used.
