Sub : Guidelines for imparting Vocational/Project Training in Bhilai


Steel Plant.

Objective : To have a streamlined system of imparting Vocational/Project


Training.

Scope : Students from graduation Post Graduation courses in


Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Fire and
Safety, Social Science, Law, Computer Application.

Guidelines :

General

1.0 Before beginning of the financial year HRD Department shall


decide on the number of Vocational Trainees/Project Trainees
to be entertained during the season.

1.1 Projects in concerned area shall be identified in consultation


with the Department Heads, keeping in mind their current and
future requirement.

1.2 The main objective while selecting projects shall be future


requirement, process changes etc. i.e. studies, surveys,
benchmarking helpful in addressing organizational issues.

1.3 Eligibility Criteria for Trainees :

Engineering Students – After completion of IInd year of 4 year


degree course.

MBA/MCA/PG in Social Science/Welfare – After completion of


Ist year of
the course.

BBA/Law/Pharmacy/Physiotherapy etc. – After completion of


IInd year of
the course.

2.0 Intake of Students
2.1 Requisition for imparting Vocational/Project Training for a
student shall come from the Head of the Institution one month in
advance from the date of commencement of training to
GM(HRD), BSP.

2.2 The requisition must indicate the following :-

(a) Class/course in which the student is studying.

(b) Duration of the training

(c) Discipline (in case of project training)

(d) Probable topics of the project.

2.3 HRDC shall scrutinize the application received and finalise the
list of students to be imparted training on first come first served
basis considering the no. of seats available in each discipline.
2.4 HRDC shall send letter of acceptance indicating the details viz.
title, contact person time schedule and charges payable (in case
of Project Training), to the Head of the Institution, copies shall
be endorsed to the concerned Deptt.Head/Project guide.
2.5 The trainees shall report for training on the day scheduled,
alongwith the confirmation letter from HRDC, two photographs,
D.D. of required amount (if applicable) and Institute’s Identity
Card.
2.6 HRDC shall scrutinize the documents and arrange for issue of
necessary Gate Pass through CISF. The training schedule,
shall start after issue of Gate Pass. CISF will ensure issue of
Gate Pass by the following day from the date of receipt of
requisition.

2.7 The trainees shall be given brief induction as follows :-

Day -1: SAIL Induction(Vision, Mission, Policies ,Code of


Conduct etc.)

Day-2: Visit to respective department and induction with the


team.

2.8 At the end of the Project Training, a copy of the Project Report
shall also be submitted by the trainees and certificates shall be
issued to the trainees on the following day.

3.0 Duration of the Training :

Vocational Training - As per curricula of the course.


Project Training - Upto Six months.

4.0 Fee Chargeable

The fees for imparting project training shall be as follows :-

Duration of Training Fee Payable in Rs.

One month (minimum ) 500/-


Two months 700/-
Three months 1000/-
Four months 1300/-
Five months 1500/-
Six months 1800/-

No fee shall be charged from the employees of SAIL provided


he has obtained prior permission for pursuing the said
degree/course as per the Service Rules.

The charges will be payable in advance for the required period


of training in form of D.D./Bankers Cheque favouring SAIL, BSP,
payable at Bhilai and shall be deposited with the training
coordinator, HRDC.

5.0 Facilities to be provided :

(i) Vocational training will be imparted free of charge

(ii) Lodging: Accommodation shall be provided on


chargeable basis subject to availability.

(iii) Safety Appliance: Helmets to be provided to all


trainees on returnable basis.

(iv) Transport: Transport facility to the outstation students


may be provided if available, on
chargeable basis.

The local institutes shall arrange transportation and Helmets for


their students.

6.0 Others

6.1 Training charges once paid will not be refunded in any


circumstances including willful stoppage or termination of
training.

6.2 The amount collected as fee for imparting Project Training shall
be paid as honorarium to the designated guide. Guide shall
provide the data required for the Project to the Trainees after
ensuring that the information being provided in not
codified/secret in nature.

6.3 In case of any misconduct by the student BSP shall reserve the
right to discontinue the training and simultaneously inform the
Principal/Head of the Institute to take disciplinary action.

This fully supersedes Office Order Nos. O&M/Procedure/673, dt.


28/01/2008 and O&M/Procedure/765, dated 29/12/2008 with immediate effect
and issued with the approval of the Competent Authority.
