    Course title: Securities Market


    Course code: FIN442
    Credit hours: 3
    Pre-requisite: After finishing the following course: Introduction of Finance and
    Monetary, Financial market
    Level: College of Finance and Banking

    2. Course objective:

    Knowledge:
    The objective of the course is to help students with a solid basic knowledge of the
    stock and the stock market, understand the mode of operation, the activities of the
    participants in the market, the international standards as well as the typical
    characteristics in Vietnam. The course will also provide a foundation for students to
    study other subjects with high-level and intensive knowledge on securities like
    derivatives markets, financial/ securities investment
    Thinking:
    Developing critical thinking to give solid arguments to debate the opinions of the
    experts and classmates about the issues and case studies in the course.
    Skills:
     Apply the above knowledge to synthesize, analyze and evaluate the events taking
    place in the economy, financial markets
     Develop skills of presentation and teamwork.

    3. Course description:

    Stock market is an important channel for capital mobilization of the economy, it is


    considered one of the most advanced and complex financial markets. Through the
    course, students will grasp the basic theory of financial instruments such as bonds,
    stocks along with the actual happenings on 02 Securities Exchange. In addition, the
    course also introduces the role, functions, duties and characteristics of the indispensable
    subjects in the stock market like SSC, Stock Operation Department, Depository Center ,
    securities companies, investor fund management company

    4. Role of the course:

    The module provides knowledge and skills for students to complete the requirements of
    training program outcome.

    5. Teaching Methods:

    Teaching combines theory with practical situations discussion


    Read course materials before each lecture.
    Complete all homework
    Participate in group presentations and topics essay group

    6. Methods of assessment
    - 10% of the points obtained from attending in class

    - 15 of the points obtained from group activities


    - 25% of the points obtained from mid-term test

    - 50% of module marks taken from the final exam
