Quality Management Team Task

ISO establishes standards to promote international trade. It sets minimum standards for products and services to ensure safety, reliability and quality. The process for ISO certification involves 8 steps, including multiple audits. Some ISO standards Festember could apply for relate to quality management, sustainable event management, and environmental management. However, the author feels ISO certification may not be necessary for Festember given its established reputation as the best cultural fest in South India. While certification could boost prestige, it is not critical to Festember's ability to attract sponsors or continued growth.

ISO basically expands to International Organization for Standardization. It is
a voluntary and a non-treaty federation of standards which promotes
development of standardization and activities to facilitate an international trade
in services. By the use of these standards, it aids the creation of products and
services that are safe, reliable and of good quality. It also helps in increase in
productivity and minimalized errors. They ensure that the services and products
delivered at least conform to the minimum standards set internationally.

The process of getting the ISO certification is generally an 8 step process:

1. Application to TNV (the certifying organization) and getting their

quotation.
2. Review of the application
3. Agreement between TNV and the Client
4. 1st stage of Audit
5. 2nd stage of Audit
6. Surveillance Audit
7. Special Audit (if required)
8. Extension Audit

Classifications of ISO:

There are 80,000 types of ISO certification. Some common certifications are:
ISO 14644-1 Classification of Air Cleanliness
ISO 14644-2 Cleanroom Testing for Compliance
ISO 14644-3 Methods for Evaluating and Measuring Cleanrooms and Associated
Controlled Environments
ISO 14644-4 Cleanroom Design and Construction
ISO 14644-5 Cleanroom Operations
ISO 14644-6 Terms, Definitions and Units
ISO 14644-7 Enhanced Clean Devices
ISO 14644-8 Molecular Contamination
ISO 14644-9 Surface Cleanliness by Particle Concentration
ISO 14644-10 Surface Cleanliness by Chemical Concentration
ISO 14698-1 Biocontamination: Control General Principles
ISO 14698-2 Biocontamination: Evaluation and Interpretation of Data
ISO 14698-3 Biocontamination: Methodology for Measuring Efficiency of Cleaning
Inert Surfaces

Some certifications that Festember can apply for :

ISO 9001 (quality management systems)

ISO 20121 (sustainable event management)
ISO 14000 (environmental management)
ISO 20121 and ISO 14000 are mainly dependent upon Social Responsibility Teams
outcomes.

Personally, I feel it is not really necessary for Festember to get an ISO

certification. The main reason is, while an ISO certification holds high value to an
investing sponsor, Festember is already an established fest, in fact the best fest in
South India. Now there are no other cultural fests in India which have an ISO
certification. Festember is already unique because of their free pro-show
programme. While getting an ISO certification will no doubt boost Festembers
reputation, I dont think it is a necessity. Even without a certification, Festember
will still be able to attract sponsors due to their established fame and will
continue to grow year after year.
