Major Events During Russian Revolt In Animal Farm

Through his political view, George Orwell intimates leading events during the Russian

Revolution of 1917 within Animal Farm. In approximately the mid-20th century, audiences

resist Orwells perspective whose took a side with proletariat or lower class due to his high

education and service for imperialism and this reason essentially causes him seem like

bourgeoisie. Thereby, George Orwell, starts to criticize and write against their actions. The

Russian Revolution is one of modification which caused by working class in Russia. Moreover,

significant events which occur within the huge variation are implied in Animal Farm book. The

story tells about animals in Manor Farm do not want to be fed and exploited by humans. They

begin to occupy the farm and drive Mr. Jones out. Finally, the farm is owned by animals which

are led by Snowball but Napoleon becomes a new leader after Snowball is discharged with

violence. The animals are exploited and overworked after Napoleon broke the seven

commandments and started being like human. Accordingly, George Orwell demonstrates related

scenes from the revolution of Russia in Animal Farm which reflect his strong political view.

In the book, George Orwell portrays the triumph of the animals in Manor Farm to

indicate the decline of Czar Nicholas 2 during the revolution. As Orwell is a political writer, he

narrates that the animals have Old Majors vision in their mind which all animals in the farm are

exploited and humans are the only opponents. All animals agree with the venerable boar. After

Mr. Jones always gets drunk every day and he just takes advantage of products from the animals

each day. The farm owner ignores to take care of his animals while they are living with

oppression and starvation. They cannot endure this misery no longer; thereby, each one

simultaneously chases Mr. Jones and his employees out of the farm with no plan. In the text it

says, This was more than the hungry animals could bearJones and his men suddenlybeing

butted and kicked from all sides (19). Mr. Jones and his crews are savagely drove out of the

farm. Another essential point is when Czar Nicholas 2 of Romanov family had ruled Russia since

1894. According to William Henry Chamberlins article (1967), the Russian Revolution was

unpreparedly concentrated with no conspicuous leader. This led to the collapse of Russian

Emperor on March 12, 1917. Czar Nicholas 2 and his family, including Czarina and his five

children were imprisoned in a basement and massacred in the Ural town of Ekaterinburg.

Authorities were supplanted by Soviet Council which was elected by working class and military

(p.9). The key aspect discusses that George Orwell would like to reveal Czar Nicholas 2 who is

manifested as the character of Mr. Jones faces with his termination which is revolted by lower

class or subordinates as well as the character of the rest of the animals represents people in

working class during the first Russian Revolution who are not pleased to the ruling system. At

this point, it causes the change of regime in both Animal Farm and Russia.

The consequence of the revolution which is the change of administration under

Animalism system in the novel is alluded to the Bolshevik takes Russia into new regime of

Communist. George Orwell narrates that animals stick to seven principles after Mr. Jones does

not own the farm anymore. Animalism becomes new regime in the farm which power is used by

pigs only. Snowball takes a position of a leader and all animal agree to let this boar to do this

great duty due to his intelligence. For example, when the author describes the purpose of having

Animalism which is spoke by Snowball, it says, Thiscontained the essential principle of

Animalism. Whoever had thoroughly grasped it would be safe from human influences (34). This

quote demonstrates that Animalism is the main idea of ruling the farm; moreover, it implies

Communist system which came after the first revolution ended. According to Michael

Karpovichs article (1930), the concept of Marxian and Communist were used to rule Russia by

the Bolshevik after the second Russian Revolution. The Bolshevik was a Communist party who

did coup detat against the government of Kerensky which led by Vladimir Lenin and Leon

Trotsky. Eventually, Kerensky raised the white flag to Communism on November 6, 1917. This

is outlined that animals set up the new way to manage the farm or Animalism and that is similar

to the situation that the Bolshevik brought new type of regime or Communism in order to rule

Russia. This essential occurrence conduces that Mr. Jones cannot return to the farm and the

White Russians fight for royal family.

Whereas the White Russians demand rights from the Bolshevik, George Orwell portrays

the failed recurrence of Mr. Jones. The story narrates that animals possess and manage Manor

Farm instead of the owner. Mr. Jones wants to reinstate in his house and farm; however, he

cannot even step into the farm. Snowball learns Julius Caesars tactic in order to handle with Mr.

Jones and his friends from other farms. Mr. Jones and the others are attacked by Snowball and

the animals with inhumanity. In the text, Snowball says, No sentimentality, comrade! cried

Snowball from whose wounds the blood was still dripping. War is war. The only good human

being is a dead one. (43). This quote shows that they have an aggressive leader, Snowball, who

destroys Mr. Joness plan which is to seize and own the area. According to Francesco

Benvenutis article (1988), there was a group of Russian people who believe in monarchy and

Czar Nicholas 2, including the Imperial Army. They are called as the White Russians. They

aimed to fight with the Red Army or Russian Soviet Republic Army which founded by Leon

Trotsky. Eventually, the loyal division lost to Trotskys army. At this point of view, this shows

that Mr. Jones and his crews represent the White Russians who fought against Communist group

which is represented by animals in Animal Farm.

The discussion above indicates that the significant events are alluded within Animal Farm

which George Orwell narrates the story through animals in Manor Farm. They are told in the

scenes of when Mr. Jones is chased out of the farm, Animalism becomes the principles that

everyone must follow, and Mr. Joness troop loses to animals in the farm.
