How do we obtain the funds for the field trip?
- organize with parents and staff to create yard sale and bake sale.

- The yard sales will take place every saturday & sunday in school and the
bake sales will take place every friday in school.

- These events will begin February 05- March 11 ( 6weeks)


- Bus, tickets will be payed for April 08

- Students will have 1 hour to arrive and be boarded to the bus ( from 7:00-8:00
am)

Gold Rush Gallery Walk Worksheet (Small Group Discussion): Students


will be given images of artifacts and activities from the Gold Rush and respond to the
following prompts:
What do you see?
What do you think this says about the Gold Rush?
Sketch what you see.
Class Discussion after every group has had a chance to discuss. (Brief
introductory lecture.)
Documentary Video after introductory discussion.
Discussion will continue after video, along with more in-depth and immersive
reading.
During the Trip
Students will experience each of the following area:

Panning for Gold: Educated on tools used to pan, the rush in economy and population growth in California.
CA Standards: Section 4.3 #3, #4, & #5, Section 4.4 #2

Miners Camp: Students will experience a fun and real life demonstration given by a "49er" on life during the gold rush.
CA Standards: Section 4.4 #2, #3 & #4

Water Wheel Demonstration: Enjoy the water wheel and learn the importance of water during the gold rush.
CA Standards: Section 4.4 #6 & #7

Wagons, Buggies, and Transportation: Know the routes that settlers took to get to California.
CA Standards: 4.3 #2 and #4

Miners Shaft: Explore the depths of the mine. See the types of tools used to dig and navigate through the mines.
CA Standards: Section 4.3 #1 & #3, Section 4.4 #2
After Trip Lesson

Have students write about what caught their most attention during the field trip and

have them draw or paint it.

Integrate CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.4.3:Write narratives to develop real or imagined

experiences or events using effective technique, descriptive details, and clear event

sequences.
