Cabling Flexi Multiradio 10 Base Station
NOTICE: For OBSAI use two Multimode FSFL or FUFAS cables with 3 Gb SFP FOSG and a max distace of 2 m.
For more information on FSFL cables, see Table 103 Multi-mode fibers 90-90 OM2 in Flexi Multiradio Base Station and Flexi Multiradio 10 Base
Station Optional Items Description.
For more information on FOSG, see Table 110 3 Gb SFPs in Flexi Multiradio Base Station and Flexi Multiradio 10 Base Station Optional Items
Description.
Note: In this configuration, RF Modules and Remote Radio Heads must be connected to Master System Module RF/EXT ports: 1-3.
Connection number Master System Module port Extension System Module port
EIF2*/RF/EXT6 OPT/EXT1
EIF2*/RF/EXT6 OPT/EXT1
Third connection (DC power)1 FPFD DC output DC input terminals on Flexi Power Distribution and
Fuses (FPFx) submodule
*Note that if ESM is connected to MSM EIF2 port, flag Enable FSM EIF2 as RP3-01 interface should be checked during commissioning.
Make sure that the laser beam is switched off when optical cables are installed.
Always stop transmission before detaching the optical fiber from an optical fiber connector marked with a warning triangle.
NOTICE: NOTICE: Incorrect cables and seals may not provide appropriate ingress protection. Use only tested IP65 class outdoor cables with seals
provided by Nokia. This is required for both indoor and outdoor installations, including the outdoor cabinet.
NOTICE: NOTICE: Overbending damages the the optical fiber cables and can also cause connectors to detach or become damaged. Do not bend
optical fibre cables to a radius smaller than the minimum radius of 70 mm (2.76 inches) for cables with a diameter 7 mm (0.28 inches) or 50 mm (1.97

NOTICE: Optical cables are fragile. Always route the optical cable according to the cables' natural alignment.
NOTICE: NOTICE: Optical fibers are sensitive. Possible contamination lowers the mechanical strength of the optical fiber, which dampens the
transmission of light in the fibers. Clean all optical fiber connectors before installation using an optical fibers connector cleaning kit.
NOTICE: NOTICE: RF module is required to be set into disabled state by way of Blocking RF unit or Base Station Site prior to new or replacement
SFP insertion to RF HW.
NOTICE: Changing OBSAI MSM-ESM connection port numbers in runtime is not supported at any end.
NOTICE: When FSMD/E is added as an extension module to the BTS, it is mandatory to reconfigure the BTS.
Procedure
In stacked installations, the System Extension Module is installed on top of the module stack.
NOTICE: Risk of damage to the equipment. If you are reusing a Master System Module as a System Extension Module, remove the transmission
sub-module prior to installation.

2 Install two optical transceivers to the Master System Module and two further optical transceivers to the System Extension Module (for the
first two connections described in Table: Connection requirements).
For further information on how to install the optical transceivers for System Module variant FSMF, see Connecting internal optical cables. For FSMD and
FSME variants, see Connecting internal optical cables in the Cabling Flexi Multiradio BTS LTE document.
3 Firstly, connect an optical cable from the Master System Module chosen optical port to the OPT-EXT1 or OPT-EXT2 port on the System
Extension Module, as described in Table: Connection requirements.
5 Connect one end of the DC cable to the System Extension M odule DC connector and the other end to the connector marked with EXT on
the System Module front panel.
Route the DC cable via external cable entries. Fix any excess cable on the sides of the module casings.
Note: Do not feed the power supply from the Extension Module to the RF modules as this can cause a power overload.
For information on connecting FMSF DC cables, see Connecting external power feed.
Result
Figure: Connecting System Extension Module cables shows the example cables connection between master and
extension module.
