Module 08 Introduction

This module introduces students to synthesis and sampling techniques. It discusses how the majority of commercially released music is now produced electronically rather than with live instruments. Subtractive synthesis is covered as it was the first practical method of true synthesis and is still widely used in digital instruments. The module also addresses sampling techniques and encourages students to experiment with creating their own samples rather than just using preset sound banks. It reminds students to work at their own pace through the course material.
