Description of the artifact and how it meets the standard and criteria:

For this standard, my artifact is an article about Thomas Edison that I used in my pull-
out reading class. This article relates information about the famous inventor Thomas
Edison. Although the article is brief, the author gives information on his background and
inventions. This article ties content from reading and social studies together. This
article shows just one example of how I connect ideas and information across the
subject areas.

Reflection on the artifact:

It is very important to make cross-curricular connections in all classes. It is vital for


students to understand the relationships between information how information in their
classes connects. In my classes, I try to find material to connect my students learning
to many disciplines and how they will use the information I teach. Since the time that I
have with my students is so limited, I need to combine information from the various
subject areas in order to cover more material and help my students make connections
about what they are learning.
