Welcome to keeping pace with Bachmann.
The move towards optimum automation solutions requires a host of different qualities. Endurance,
a permanent willingness to innovate, and a total orientation towards the needs of our customers
on the one hand, and the desire to achieve technological excellence on the other. Since its founding
in 1970 Bachmann electronic GmbH has aimed at not only being a pace setter in this field but also
at developing, manufacturing and offering to industry unbeatable system solutions. The following
pages will give you a full picture of how we are doing.
Long-term thinking is important for the company.
Fast thinking is important for our customers.
Fairness is important for both of us.
Gerhard Bachmann
We are trained.
Thinking further ahead and setting new standards in the field of industrial automation.
Not only meeting expectations but also exceeding them and creating already today the
customer requirements of tomorrow. This sums up the philosophy of Bachmann electronic
GmbH.
The result is a host of holistic and future-proof automation solutions in machine and
system building for individual requirements. Innovative solutions that stand out for
their user-friendliness, reliability and operational safety, as well as openness and future
compatibility.
More and more customers from industry and the wind power sector are relying on the
experience, know-how and outstanding innovation of Bachmann electronic GmbH. For us it
has always been actions that have been the best proof of our abilities.
We are motivated.
Fairness and openness in the company and in working with our customers and partners
are important to us. Long-term thinking, an environmentally-conscious business practice,
intensive customer care and a continuous maximum quality and availability are prime
objectives for our company.
Our customers know that they can rely on us as partners. And we know that we are only
successful if through our help our customers are ahead of the competition.
Success is our objective. Your success.
With regard to conception, development and manufacturing, Bachmann electronic offers a
combined expertise in all these areas, thus providing a guarantee for technical maturity,
systematic quality and flexibility for the future. All qualities that are nowhere more important
than in the field of sustainable capital investments. All qualities that run like a red tape through
our range of products and systems.
We understand the full meaning of growth and all its implications.
Jrgen Duelli

Figures that speak for themselves
People grow with the challenges they face a company grows with the people close to it.
These are the people in our company with their commitment, their ideas, their specialist
expertise, but also with their enjoyment of their work that stand behind our success. A
success that can't be ignored. Our consistent investment in R & D and intensification of
our responsible and partner-based customer relations bore fruit and made 2005 the most
successful financial year in the 35-year history of the company. It was possible to extend
our market leadership in the field of wind power and also considerably increase sales in the
industrial sector. And our success story continues.

Competitive beyond measure.
Inspired beyond bounds.
A considerable element of the Bachmann electronic philosophy is the central idea behind
all products and systems: only what is useful to our customers is ultimately of use to us.
All components are therefore designed to make your machine more efficient, requiring
less maintenance and faster to configure. In other words, more competitive. Technology
for its own sake doesn't fit in our portfolio. However, technology to increase productivity
can be found in abundance at Bachmann electronic.
Products and systems that define new limits.
And surpass many entirely.
Our own and those of our customers.
Gabriel Schwanzer
16
No limits. No restrictions.
The development and supply of innovative controllers for demanding automation tasks has
been the substance and uncompromising statement of our company since it was founded
in 1970. Our development criteria are clear: absolute stability, deterministic real-time
performance in all conditions and total compatibility with future expansions.
- CoDeSys programming
- Communication with PROFINET RT (V2) and IRT (V3)
- Use of WEB technologies on the process level
(Java technology)
- MATLAB/Simulink Integration
17
Always open to winds of change.
Having been active in the wind power sector since 1999 weve done more than just kicked up
some dust. Within a short space of time Bachmann electronic automation solutions became the
industry standard. Our control components won a reputation for their versatility and we became
market leaders. Bachmann electronic typically offers standard and proven modules which can also
be used freely for this demanding application field.

M1 and MATLAB/Simulink
The full integration of the M1 controller family and the modelling and simulation tool
MATLAB/Simulink enables controller parameters to be transferred directly to the control
technology. Tedious and time consuming intermediate steps in programming through this
previously unique integration become a thing of the past. Thanks to the direct integration
in the M1 system family, the closed-loop control engineer no longer has to be familiar with
programming the PLC in IEC 61131 or C /C++ languages but can work in the usual model
and simulation environment MATLAB/Simulink. The different input and output modules
of the M1 controller are provided in a module library in Simulink and can be integrated
directly in the graphical modelling process. Values, regulators or module parameters can
be adjusted directly online.
All processor modules of the M1 automation system can be networked via Ethernet,
providing the basis of seamless networking and Internet capability for the entire system.
The implementation of PROFINET IO on the processors of the MPC200 and MX200 series, the
web terminals and control terminals (HMI-PLC) as well as the PROFINET-enabled Switch
SWI205 means that the M1 user can now access via web technology both the installation
as well as remote I/Os or drives with the usual standard Ethernet infrastructure simply
and seamlessly. This is made possible thanks to PROFINET's ability to utilize both real-
time and conventional protocols simultaneously on the Ethernet medium. Bachmann's
high performance CPUs can be run both as a PROFINET Controller (comparable to a
fieldbus master) and as a PROFINET Device (comparable to fieldbus slave). This enables
homogeneous operation within a Bachmann electronic automation system, whilst still
ensuring complete openness for integrating the PROFINET network components of any
manufacturer.

Wake up. The future is beginning.
Technically speaking Bachmann components are virtually indestructible. They pass
all tests with flying colors, meet all criteria easily and also prove this daily worldwide.
This is also true in terms of finances. Resilience here is demonstrated, for example, by
the open system architecture and the flexible interfaces. Unlimited security for the future
therefore comes virtually built-in.
Experience has shown that 80 % of all malfunctions occur in the first 24
hours. Why should we let this be the responsibility of our customers?
Gabriel Schwanzer

Bachmann Quality.
Our components meet the highest industrial standards in terms of performance, availability
and product life. They are the result of innovative development, perfect production and
continuously improved processes.
From product design to delivery, we consistently aim for a high level of quality in our
services and products. The production process from raw materials to final testing is fully
documented.
Extensive tests that meet standards far exceeding the legal minimum requirements and
targeted temperature and performance testing of modules close to their limits ensure the
product quality of all Bachmann electronic systems. In the wind sector we have shown
over long-term use with large series that our controllers can achieve availability of 99.97
percent.

DNM201 DeviceNet Master
Field of Application
The DeviceNet Master can be implemented everywhere, where DeviceNet functionality according
to the ODVA specification (www.odva.org) is required. In this case, the functionality is freely
scaleable. It is possible that the DeviceNet Master in a network simultaneously acts as master
and as slave or only as slave. The DNM201 masters COS communication (Change of State) and
can also operate solely as Explicit Message Client (e.g. for applications, where no process data
must be transferred or only parameters in devices need to be changed, e.g. an HMI).

Proactive. Fast. Economical. Teleservice/remote maintenance
Teleservice
Machines and systems are increasingly being used in locations far away from where they
were created. Nevertheless system builders must be able to provide services in the event
of a fault. This can involve considerable costs, particularly during the warranty period.
TeleService helps to significantly reduce the risk. The optional uses of TeleService are
multiple.
Bachmann electronic offers for this several solutions for the safe remote maintenance of
machines and systems via a central medium.
Easy to configure functions like the following are integrated in the system
software:

Fresh Wind for the Energy Sector References
The operation of modern wind energy plants poses high demands to the
automation technology. Bachmann electronic is offering an optimal solution
for the complex tasks of the sector with its open and modularly designed M1
platform.
With increasing power the complexity of the equipment is also rising, and
further tasks in the field of data processing, measurement technique and
regulation add to pure control tasks. The original programmable logic
controller must become a process computer that partially performs control
tasks. One of these tasks is, for example, to quickly and smoothly adapt
the position of the rotor blade to the wind conditions and - in full-load
operation - to the power requirements of the electric power companies. In
a parallel way the environmental conditions, temperatures and hydraulic
values, rotational speeds and oscillations are monitored in order to be able
to quickly respond to critical values, if necessary.

Total Competence for Filling and Locking Machines
Filling Plants
The most important at a filling plant is that it fills the cash at the end; on a
long-term basis and under all circumstances.
Our strength are filling and locking machines for cups made of plastic,
paper, aluminum and group materials. All machines proportion with excellent
weight accuracies and fill liquid to pasty food also with hard portions. The
machines of course correspond to the newest European Union standards.
Most modern servo-drive technology, field bus technology and user friendly
prompting are the current highlights, which prove the competence of the
enterprise with filling and locking machines.

Laboratory Technology
For more than 5 years, the company has been using the Bachmann M1
automation system in its measurement systems for measurement value
logging, data pre-processing and sequence control. The impressive
performance of the M1 system, with its large network capacity and the
customized development of a precision input and output card for analog
signals, were decisive factors in the switch to the Austrian manufacturer.

M1 controller picks up the pace
The results of their work is used by almost everyone, but their activities
are mostly hidden from view: The engineers of the EDAG Engineering +
Design AG with their headquarters in the Hessian Fulda do not only develop
vehicles for the leading car manufacturers in this world, but plan and design
the necessary production system up to the installation and start-up of the
equipment.
In the test system two M1 controls are employed in each functional unit,
of which one specifically provides for the pure test stand automation,
measurement and regulation tasks, while the resources of the other one are
allocated to the respective test-piece in the sense of an open system.
