ABSTRACT: In the Current Scenario of the developing World, the demand for education is increasing and Quite Complex. But the available sources is Worldwide. Everybody needs to prove their uniqueness to the competitive world beyond many challenges and obstacles they face. Visually Challenged people fighting hard to strike their goal in recent trends. They also Seek information was mere. They even wanted to access to relevant information independently. Libraries have a moral obligation to make information available to all categories of users regardless of their gender, age, race, or disabilities. Till Now Library services for Visually Challenged People were not adequate. But it is very important to make all informations accessible for visually impaired people is now realized by many different sections . This topic describes the barriers faced by visually challenged, their information needs, highlights the special equipments and services that the libraries provide, feeling of reading book independently by the sense of touch and improving the library & information services to the visually challenged. INTRODUCTION:
India projects a higher number of Blind People at International Forums.
Our Country has around 12 million blind people against 39 million people globally which makes India, home to One-third of the World's blind population. Library plays a fundamental role in society. It is a place of creating opportunities for learning, support and literacy. They are Gateway or Walkthrough to Knowledge. It is Primarily recognized as a social function in making knowledge publicly available to all irrespective of their gender, age, race, or any kinds of disabilities. They are the Centres for Information and Learning. The core point of this project is to providing information obtaining centre for visually challenged persons. AIM: The main aim of the Thesis Project is to design the Information obtaining infrastructure for the visually challenged to facilitate them to be the part of the Mainstream Society. OBJECTIVE:
To explore the design of building addressing the needs and
provisions of the visually challenged. To understand the importance of spatial planning within the constraints of development regulations according to the challenged people. To understand the importance of understanding relationship between open and built form involving landscaping circulation and hostel facilities for the visually challenged people. To create awareness with regard to the design of green buildings and sustainable architecture. To make the access independent. To maintain a strong collection of Braille Books. To explore the life of the blind and their ways of independent living and implementing the standards related to them. To provide barrier free Environment. METHODOLOGY: Collections of data's regarding to the barrier free environment and physically challenged people. Detailed Study about the daily life of visually challenged people Analyse the site Background Study on the selection of site Case Study Literature Study LIsting Requirements for the design proposal Detailing the Library Complex Detailing the barrier free environment in the Proposed Space Landscape designing and easy understandable plan explained through plans and sections. SCOPE: As India projects higher number of blind population in the International Forums, AICB ( All India Confederation of the Blind ) in collaboration with Amway Opportunity Foundation Started the First Braille Library in Guwahati on 5 January 2017. And also decided to setup 10 braille libraries in the states of Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Haryana, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. So Creating the Braille Library for Visually Challenged People will Help them by Providing Numerous amount of information for gaining knowledge.
