An operating system is a system software that directs a computer's operations, controlling and
scheduling the execution of other programs, and managing storage, input/output, and communication
resources.

1. Job Control
1. It loads programs into the memory main memory
2. It provides continuous running process of programs
3. It provides job queuing facility to the printing process on priority basis.

4. It stores, retrieves, erases and copies data files and programs.
5. It supports different file organization methods.
6. It call subroutines into the main memory.

7. It keeps track of number of files and its location.
8. It keeps track of availability of remaining storage space on the disk
