Describe the classroom environment


Consider how the class is a print rich environment. What print can you see around the
room? (Labels, captions, flashcards, headings, rules, instructions, timetable, flash
cards, etc.). For each one you mention insert pictures and state the purpose of each
one.
- Rules of the classroom
- Flashcards for the days of the week
- Flashcards for the months
- Flashcards for the shapes that are display under the board
- Flashcards for the numbers
- Poster of the weather

Describe the reading area in your classroom. What genres of books are there and how are
they displayed?

There is no reading area, but the teacher uses the mat or the disks to let the students read on it.
The books are no books in the classroom only the story that she gives them, and it is from the
school so its not they like to read it they should read it.

Describe a phonics lesson you observed. How does the teacher teach word attack skills to
children? Mention how the children are scaffolded to recognize the word and get the
meaning?

The teacher use pictures to tell the students the meaning of the word, and for recognize the
word the teacher write it in the board and if she finishes teaching the word she add the word in
the box of words that is written in the board.
Consider different reading approaches have you observed? (Guided reading, Shared Reading,
Sustained Silent Reading).

Sustained Silent Reading, the teacher gives the students the books that they should read for the
day and they read the book silently.

Describe some types of writing activities or the method the teacher uses for writing e.g.
emergent writing, copy writing, dictations, etc.

the teacher use copy writing, the teacher writes a sentence on the board every morning the
students should copy the sentence in their note book. Or the story they read they choose which
sentence they like from the story and write it in their note book.
