Technology Integration Form SCREENCASTING

GENERAL INFORMATION

Selected Technology/Resource Name: Age/Grade Level: Technology/Resource Type:

Associated Learning Standard(s): The resource may be generally applicable, if so, simply state that. List any ISTE-S standards that
seem to naturally align with the selected resource.

The resource I chose for my screen casting tool is, Screencast-o-Matic. This tool is generally applicable and
accessible for anybody to use. For a more specific use and within the ISTE standards for educators, this fits
well under the facilitator role. Educators by using this program, will facilitate lessons in a technological sense
for their students. By doing Screencast-o-Matic, educators can give that one-on-one feeling to their students
via laptop, phone, tablet, etc. Not only a facilitator, but another ITSE standard that it works well for is a
designer. Teachers will design and construct lessons effectively by using this device.

RESOURCE DESCRIPTION

Give a brief description of the technology/resource.

So, what is Screencast-o-Matic? Its a technological tool that allows users to record their voice over a created
video. According to their website, its listed that its for: Educators, businesses, gamers, anyone needing a
fast recording app to create a video file, share on YouTube, or even uploading to a custom branded site hosted
by us! Simply create a video and have your voice demonstrate whatever it is you might be presenting. Once
you do that, then you could upload it on your website or even Youtube.

INTEGRATION/IMPLEMENTATION IDEA - SCREENCASTING

How might you use this resource to promote student learning? Describe who will be doing the screencasting you or your
students, and what purpose it will serve.

When it comes to using this resource, I predict I will be the one using it. What I plan on doing with this tool is,
serve my lessons over videos for students to watch as homework. Then once they come to class the next day,
instead of introducing the lesson, we will continue to and build off of it. I think at some point of my teaching
career, I want to try to incorporate a flipped classroom setting if possible. I think that method is very
beneficial because students on their own time can watch videos on the class concepts and they can watch it asa
many times as needed; as oppose to getting the one take-version from me during the school day. Itll save us
more time during class, so we can tackle the real questions during those 55 minutes.

Then, maybe as a final project, I will ask the kids to construct their own lesson on Screencasting-o-Matic.
That way they can be exposed to the tool and how to use it. Also too, the best way to officially know
something is to teach it to somebody else I believe. So I think this tool will be extremely valuable in the
future.

VALUE-ADDED EXPLANATION
Given the information above, how would the technology integration you described, using the selected resource? (On the
Value-Added Rating Scale above)
Explain your rating based on the indicators on the rubric.

Based on this rating scale, I feel the value of Screencasting-o-Matic is a mixture of all three ratings. I want it
to serve as a nice supplement, but at the same time, why couldnt it play a critical role in the lesson? In the
beginning, Ill be the one using the tool, but gradually, I want the students to showcase their abilities on it as
well. I want to express my material as effectively and accordingly as I can. I feel like this can help.
