LESSON 2

PART DETAILING AND


MODIFYING

Objectives of LESSON 2:

1. Detail up existing model by Extrude boss and/or extrude cut a part


2. Create fillets and/or chamfers on sharp edges of the part

Part Detailing
1. In this lesson, part created in lesson 1 will be detailed up with; (1) hole, (2) fillet
and (3) chamfer. The isometric views and orthographic views are shown below.

2. Open folder BLOCK A.


3. (1) To create hole - Select Circle on Sketch toolbar, then a reminder to select a
plane will appear. Select the correct plane to position the circle. The selected
plane will be highlighted. If the highlighted plane is correct, click on that plane
and start sketch a circle roughly. At any position on the plane, without
determining required diameter yet.

4. Using Smart dimension ( ), modify the desired diameter of the hole (dia-
25mm), and correct position of the hole on the plane. As shown below.

5. Select Extrude cut on the feature toolbar. Make sure the circle is highlighted.
Select blind, with minimum depth is 10 mm. A greater number can be key in.
Or, select through all, since the hole is cut through the whole thickness of the
block.

6. Click or press enter. The extrude-cut of the block will be generated.

7. (2) To create fillet. Click Fillet tool on the feature toolbar. Select all four edges to
be filleted. To select more than one, press Ctrl and click on the edges. Each time
sharp edge selected, the list will appear at the items to fillet block. Radius of the
fillet is 10 mm. Then, click or press enter.

8. (3) To create chamfer. Click Chamfer tool on the feature toolbar. Select edges to
be chamfered similar procedure to create fillet. Parameter of chamfer are
distance =3mm, angle=45 degree. Then, click or press enter.
