The text provides helpful hints on proper technique like holding the body straight, using finger pads instead of tips, and breathing from the diaphragm. It also covers care instructions.

The left hand should be on top with fingers numbered starting from 1, the thumb covers the thumb hole, and fingers cover the holes with their pads. It's also important to say 'doo' when starting each note.

Several YouTube links are provided for listening examples and guides on different recorder types, construction, and techniques. Websites for fingering charts and song sheets are also listed.

Helpful Hints for Playing the Recorder
1) Hold your body straight and relaxed.
2) Left hand is on top.
3) In playing the recorder, fingers are numbered, starting with the
index finger: 1, 2, 3. The left thumb covers the thumb hole at the
back.
4) Use the pads of your fingers, not the fingertips.
5) Place the mouthpiece between the lips.
6) Start each note by saying doo. (Tonguing)
7) Breath deeply, filling your lungs, using the diaphragm to draw the
breath in.

Care for Your Recorder

1) Keep your recorder in its bag when you are not using it.
2) Never touch your recorder with your teeth.
3) Wipe out the recorder after playing.

Check!! Are you covering the thumbhole with your left thumb?
Are you covering the first hole at the front with your first
finger on your left hand?
Are you covering the holes with the pads of your fingers
and not the tops?
Are you saying doo and blowing gently?
