Theoretical Framework

This model provides structure within which partnership will works


collaboratively to plan, implement and reflect on a series of science lessons in cycles of action
reflection adopted from Korthagens (2001) ALACT model. Issues within science education,
teacher professional development and teacher education are considered in the development
of the model which attempts to address issues with teacher professional experience practice
for pre service teachers. The nexus between theory and practice is the focus of the model
which hopes to inform both teacher education and professional development for Science
teachers in the primary sector.

1. What are the variables?

Independent variable: collaborative variable

Dependent Variables: teacher professional development, teacher education

Extraneous variables: Mutual support and awareness, willingness to work toward agreed
upon purpose, recognizing expertise of all team members, knowledge, work and
communication skills, respect and courtesy for all, individual strengths and weaknesses, trust.

2. Explain the theory.

The theory states that collaborative partnership is a model for school


teacher education and professional development for Science teachers in the primary sector. It
attempts to address issues with teacher professional experience practice for pre service
teachers.
