Youth

Young players (children or teenagers in general), on average, grow at about 2.5 inches
(6 to 7 centimetres) each year.

We would recommend that at the start of each season they check that their existing
bat is the right size for them and/or they secure a new bat for the upcoming season
to ensure they play to their optimum potential (refer to chart below).

We would also highly recommend that the bat selected is also of the correct weight,
not too heavy and not too light. Put simply a bat that is too heavy means they will be
late onto the ball, whereas too light and they will be too early.

Youth bats also differ from senior or adult bats. Youth bats use a different range of
English Willow and Kashmir Willow, aimed to hit competitive prices in the market
while they grow into the game.

We offer a selection of bat heights for senior players who range in height 57 upwards
and we would recommend securing the right size bat with the correct weight.

The level of cricket being played will assist in choosing the right pair of batting gloves
offering the correct level of protection, the better the standard the higher the
protection required.

If either a senior or youth player, ensure the gloves fit comfortably and when holding
a bat that the fingers only touch the end of the gloves slightly. Youth players who
grow steadily each year will need to check their gloves at the start of each season to
ensure they are correctly protected.

offering the correct level of protection, and could also make the difference between
picking up a quick single and being run out.

For the most comfortable fit and the best protection, the knee should sit directly
behind the top knee bar and base should rest on the top of your shoe. Straps should
be fed through the plastic buckles and buckles should be on the outside leg.

Youth players who grow steadily each year are recommended to check their pads at
the start of each season to ensure they are protected correctly.

Ergonomically designed specifically for Cricket, all Kookaburra Helmets have been
designed & developed to comply with the new BS7928:2013 Standard as well as
continuing to meet Australian Protective Standards.

Helmets are available in different head sizes (Senior, Junior or Mini) and weights.

The helmet can only protect you if it fits well. Try different sizes and choose the size
which feels secure and comfortable on your head. Position the straps so that they do
not cover the ears. Only wear helmets of a suitable size.

When in a batting stance position, the helmet should not start to drop across the eye
line nor should it be able to be removed from the rear when pulled in an upwards
direction.

The extensively developed Kookaburra Pro Guard is the ultimate protection system
for batsmen replacing the traditional thigh and inner thigh pads .

If either a senior or youth player, ensure that the inner thigh guard fits comfortably on
the inside leg, the waist band is firm just above the hips and thigh guard rests above
your leading leg batting pad.
