Introduction
With over 400 expatriate pilots, Korean Air (KAL) offers one of the most attractive commuting contracts worldwide.
Rishworth Aviation (RAL) pilots at KAL benefit from generous fees and benefits as well comprehensive insurances

Contract Term
5-year term, renewable to age 65.
KAL pay Korean income tax on your behalf (*except where no tax is payable in Korea due to double taxation
agreement where your country of tax residence is for example Chile, Egypt, France, India, Luxembourg,
Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, and Turkey).
Where tax has been paid in Korea you will be provided with a tax certificate which may assist you to obtain tax
credits outside Korea.
Payment
RAL sends payment to you by the end of the month for the current month. Payments can be sent to a number of
different bank accounts worldwide.
Other Travel/Tickets
- Flights on KAL at start and end of contract.
- 4 x free of charge round trip tickets per person for yourself, spouse and children on KALs network each
year.
- 6 x ID50 and ID90 tickets each year for yourself, spouse and children.
- Access for you and your family to interline tickets with other airlines.

Accommodation
Excellent standard hotel accommodation and transport is provided at Incheon and throughout the KAL network

Per Diem
These are paid monthly directly to you by KAL. Per diem rates vary depending on the city ranging from US$3 to
US$5 per hour and are payable from arrival to departure when away from operating base Seoul. The average is
around US$700 - US$1,000 per month.
Sick Leave
14 days paid per year.
Insurances
We offer excellent policies at very competitive rates. Premiums can be deducted from your monthly fees. Please

Please check you meet all of KALs Minimum Requirements below before applying: -
- Under 55 years of age at date of joining as Non Type Rated (You can fly at KAL until age 65).
- Flown on A319/A320/A321/A340 (for A330), B767 or B747-400/800 (for B777) as PIC within 6 months OR
within 12 months if currently flying on any other Multi Crew Jet as PIC.
- Have a minimum of 4 years experience as a First Officer (commercial airline experience only).
- Have completed high school/secondary school.
- No more than 3 changes in airline/employer within last 5 years (some exceptions may be considered).

1,000 + PIC hours on A319/A320/A321/A340 1,000 + PIC hours on B767 or B747-400/800

Please Note: First Officer hours (on applicable aircraft only) can be accepted towards PIC hours on Type
requirement at a ratio of 2 to 1, up to a maximum of 500 hours.
Example: 1000 FO hours on B777= 500 PIC hours on B777 towards 1000.
Multi Crew Jet = Operation of Multi Crew aircraft (with jet engines) transporting passengers, cargo or mail for
remuneration or hire.

Screening in Seoul
Your screening with KAL will take place in Seoul. KAL will organise your return flights on their network as well as
your accommodation during your time in Seoul. You will need to pay the ticket taxes. The Screening will consist of
a Simulator assessment, Medical, Psychometric test, and an Interview. These activities can take up to 3 or 4 days
plus travel days. We will provide you with all the preparation information required for a successful Screening with
KAL. RAL has a dedicated KAL Support Pilot providing you with pre Screening briefing and assistance through the
Screening process and once on contract.
I have been on contract with Rishworth Aviation since 1999 when I joined as a B777
Captain flying for Korean Air. I remain in this position and for the last 5 years I also
have been working as an Auditor in the Flight Operation Quality Assurance
Department. Prior to this I flew for more than 21 years with Aeroflot, progressing from
First Officer on a turboprop to wide body jet Captain whilst also holding management

Type Rating
After successful Screening you will need to arrange and pay for your own B777 or A330 Type Rating. If this

Rating can be endorsed on a licence without restriction.
