NAARM's MISSION
“Committed to promote professionalism in the
management of agricultural education, research and
extension programmes and agri-business, and enhance
the efficiency, responsiveness, and performance of the
National Agricultural System”.
Director's Message
The ability to leverage information technology in nearly every one of its
functions is essential for any business to be globally competitive. This holds
even more for agri-businesses and related organizations which need to deal
with multiple stakeholders in the supply chain, seasonal and perishable
commodities, and fluctuating markets and weather. Keeping this in view,
the National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM) has
initiated a one-year Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology
Management in Agriculture (PGD-ITMA) in 2008-09 to train graduates in
agriculture and allied sciences. The programme combines cutting-edge information
technology management skills with core management skills and concepts. The objective is to
build professionals who are information and systems specialists who can successfully leverage
information and knowledge in a wide range of functions, in agri-business, agri-food retail,
microfinance, banking, government, NGOs, IT and related sectors.
The Academy has designed and developed the curriculum after deliberations with senior
executives from agri-business, industry, financial institutions, NGOs, consultants,
academicians and policy-makers in government. The candidates are selected on all-India
competition basis through a written test, followed by Group Discussion and Interview. The first
batch of 24 students was admitted in November 2008 and will graduate in November 2009.
The Academy welcomes prospective employers from private and public sectors related to
agriculture and allied sectors to collaborate for internship and placement.
