Rexnord Power Transmission Formulas

Circumference Torque
Circumference = * x Diameter Torque = Force x Distance
* = 3.1416 Torque = Force x Radius
Torque (in-lb) = 63,025 x HP /RPM
Design Horsepower Torque (ft-lb) = 5,252 x HP /RPM
Design Horsepower = Torque (Nm) = 9,550 x KW /RPM
Motor Horsepower x Service Factor
Velocity (FPM)
Effective Force Velocity = 0.262 x Diameter x
Effective Force (EF) = HP x 33,000 / Velocity (FPM) RPM
Velocity = Diameter x x RPM
Effective Tension
Effective Tension (Te) = HP x 63,025 / RPM x Radius Work
Effective Tension (Te) = Torque / Radius Work (Linear) = Force x Distance
Effective Tension (Te) = HP x 33,000 / Velocity Work (Rotational) = Torque x *
* = Angle is measured in radians
Efficiency
Efficiency (%) = Power Out / Power In x 100% Conversions
Efficiency = HP Out / HP In x 100% (Imperial) HP = 4 KW x 1.31
Efficiency = kW/Out / kW In x 100% (Metric) KW = HP x 0.7457
Ft-lb = Nm x 0.737562
Horsepower In-lb = Nm x 8.85
Horsepower (HP) = Force x Velocity / 33,000 Nm = ft-lb x 1.356
Horsepower (HP) = Torque x RPM/63,025 Nm = in-lb x 0.113
Ft-lb/sec = HP x 550
Overhung Loads
Overhung Loads (OHL) =
63,000 x HP x Factor* / RPM x Radius
*Factor depends on the type of drive used

Power
Power = Force x Distance / Time
