SAFETY MANUAL
Thank you for purchasing a KIRA product. This document contains important guidelines
which must always be followed for safe and correct operation of this machine. Be sure to
read and understand this safety manual thoroughly before starting the operations. Place
the manual in a location where it can be accessed whenever necessary.

SIGNAL WORDS
The signal words as used in this document and on the machine represent the following three levels of hazards:

Indicates an imminently hazardous situation which, if not avoided,


A DANGER will result in death or serious injury.

DESCRIPTION OF SIGNAL-WORD LABELS

The electric controlcabinetrunsat a vel}' high voltage, and an electric


shock fromit wouldbe deadly. Therefore, before openingthe door on
the electric control cabinet, be sure to shut off the main power.

The spindlehas a sharp cutter that rotatesat a high speed. Touching


the spindleduringits rotation could resultin serious injul}' whereyour
hand couldbe severed. Do not everput your hand or foot close to the
rotatingspindle. Even if the spindle stops, do not touch it with a bare
hand.

If the coveris open duringmachining, there will be no protectionfrom


flying objects like chips, cutting oil or broken tools. Do not open the
cover whenmachining is in progress. Also, be sure to alwaysactivate
the door interlock.

Neveraccessthe chipconveyerwhile it is being driven, becauseyour


hand or foot may get stuck in the conveyer. If this happens, your
hand or foot might be severed. If you get stuck in the conveyer, stop
the conveyerimmediatelyand manually feed it to get out of it.

Beforestartingany operation withthismachine, be sure to understand


the contents of the Instruction Manual. If you operate the machine
withoutcompletely understanding theoperation guidelines, an accident
or equipment failure may result from improper operations. If the
Instruction Manual is lost, please obtain another one from us.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
A DANGER
Beforeopeningthe controlpanel, be sure to turn OFF the mainpower.
Do not accessany switch or other similarpart with a wet hand.

Before stepping into the equipmentfor a maintenance or inspection service, stop


the equipment and then turn OFF the NC unit and the mainpower.
In order to ensure that the power is not turned ON by an accident during the
maintenance or inspection service, the serviceperson must remove thepower key,
carry it with him or her, and hang a sign on the controlpanel or in a similarlocation
to inform other workers of the service work in progress.
To carry out any joint task, the details of that task must be agreed upon before
beginning workand the workers shouldsignalto each otherduringthe operation so
that they do not put each other in a potentiallydangerous situation.

Themachine maysuddenlystartmovingafterit temporarilystopsduring theoperation.


Therefore, do not access the equipmentwithout verifying its operating status.

Do not access the spindleduring the operation.


Evenif themachine stops, do not touchany of the toolswithyourbarehandbecause
you couldbe injured.

Do not operatethe machine with any of its covers and doors opened.
Do not operatethe machinewithoutinterlocking all the doors.

Do not access the chip conveyerlocatedat the rear side of the machine during the
operation, becauseyou may get stuck.

Beforebeginningoperation, locate the emergencystop pushbutton, so that it could


be pushed immediately in an emergency.
In orderto shortenthe machining time, cutting, movement, and changes are carried
out at highspeeds. Do not accessthe spindleor any othershaft, or theATC during
its operation. Note that it operates at a very high speed.
Keepguards in place and in working order.
Do not force a small tool or attachmentto do thejob of a heavy-dutytool. It will do
a better and safer job, if it is used as it was designed.

If cutting oil spills ontoyour work clothes, clean it off immediately, because it may
catch fire.
Exercise care in handling cutting oil. In order to prevent fire from occurring with
cutting oil, do not use water-insoluble cutting oil when carrying out unattended
operation. If the floor is made of wood, use extra care for fire because it is liable to
catch fire.

When removing the side cover, take care not to let it fall. It is heavy enough to
causebone fracture shouldyou drop it onto your foot.
Use the appropriateprotectivegear (including the specified work clothing, safety
shoes, and protective goggles) to protect yourself from injury.
Do not allow any unauthorized person to operate the machine. The keys (the NC
power switch key, door interlock key, edit ON/OFFkey, and side cover key) must
be placed under the controlof the responsible person.

Be sure to observethe instructions given in this document, including the operation
guidelines.
Do not use the machine for any purpose other than the specifiedones.

Do not carry out disassembly or re-assemblyby yourself.


Use the machine only at the specifiedfrequency.

Do not performany operation which may lead to an unpredictable result.


If lightning or a power failure occurs, turn OFF the mainpower immediately.
Prepareall of the matierials, jig and tools for operation before turningthe machine
on. Do notplaceany object, such as toolsthat are not being used, on or aroundthe
machine
Do not touch chips withyour bare hand.
To remove a chip stuck on a tool, stop the spindle; checking that its rotation has
completely stopped;and thenbrush off the chip while wearing protective goggles.
If any anomaly is found, immediately stop the operation and contact your sales
dealer or our office.
Wheneverthe machine is not used, it must be tumed OFF.
If you accidentally let the spindle hit a workpiece, contactyour sales dealer or our
office. Continuing the operation with this spindle can cause an accident.

If a tool is damagedor in bad condition, it should be changed immediately.
The workpiece must be mounted securely.
When addressingsomeone who is operating a machine, speak to him or her from
the front diagonal direction, never from the back.
Always use fusesof the specifiedcapacitywiththe switcheson the machine. Never
use wire or copper lead in place of a fuse.
After inspecting electricalequipment, alwaysretum the cover to its originalposition.
Always keep electricalmachineryand tools clean.
Never attempt to modify electricalequipment.
When using a bench drilling machine, the machine must be grounded unless it is
double insulated. If the machine is equipped with a three-prongplug, it should be
plugged into a three-hole electricsocket.
If it is necessaryfor maintenance to remove or disable a safety device temporarily,
be sure to return it to its original condition as soon as possible.
Do not weargloveswhile operating themachine unless it is specifiedin theinstruction
manual (when removing a tool by hand, for example).

SET UP THE MACHINE

I.Take away the wooden flame.

2.Take off the wooden bed and nuts.

3.Take off the top cover of this machine.

4.Fix the attached eyebolt to the column.

5.Hung this machine by the crane,and take off the wooden


bed.

6.Place this machine.

7.Put the plug into the outlet.

8.-Pushing the reset button on the control panel,turn on the


switch.

9.Take off the wooden block for spindle head.

IO.Take off the eyebolt.

II.Return to Z axis home position.


OIL CHARGE

I.Take off the left-side cover of this machine.


M6 7 cap bolts

2.Take off the side cover of the column.


M6 6 cap bolts

3.Please lubricate by the grease gun and so on.

Outside noise invade from the signal line, and also invades from the power supply.
The wrong action occurs by the invasion of outside noise and might cause the
trouble.
It is important to not cause to restrain the occurrence of noise, to prevent the
trouble by noise and also the noise that occurred led.

Please use this machine, after I understood the following attention point.

* IT is not responsibility range outside to any troubles, in the case that it is not
done the measure to each matters that demand special arrangement.

1. Please strengthen landing processing, because induction noise may mix it, in the
place which has the noise occurrence resource of electricity welding machine etc.

Also it is necessary the noise filter in power supply line by environment.

2. Give landing as over the 3rd seed landing (the landing resistance under 1000) as
exclusive use landing.

3. Please never do the landing to the share landing, iron frame etc. with large
electric power devices.
Noise might enter from large electric power devices.

4. Please do not attach solenoid valve etc. to this machine control box.
Noise occurs from the coil within the valve and might exert bad influence on the
control.

5. Please do not bundle the power line and signal line together in the case that the
outside input-output signal is used.
Noise sometimes enters into the signal line from the power line.

6. As for the signal line for the outside input-output, please use the shield line.
Also please cut the line because noise might enter from the line of unuse.

7. Please use the electromagnet with the serge killer and also noise filter, in the case
that the electromagnet switch, relay are used.

8. Please do not bundle the 200V power supply line and 100V power supply line
together.

1. Precautions Before Use
(1) Proper handling makes safe operations possible! !
Handle the machine properly by observing the instruction manual.

(2) Avoid installing the machine in a humid location! !


Do not install the machine outdoors or in a wet or damp place.
Otherwise the insulation of the electronic components and motor may
be degraded and cause malfunction or shock hazard.

(3) Do not install the machine under direct sunlight! !


Do not install the machine outdoors or in a place subject to direct
sunlight even indoors.
Otherwise the cover may be discolored or deformed or the shortening
of the service lives of the electronic components and motor may
lead to malfunction.

(4) Wear protective glasses during work!


To protect your eyes,be sure to wear protective glasses at work.

(5) Immediately stop operation in case of abnormality! !


When the operation of the machine is strange or other abnormality
is observed,immediately stop operating the machine.

(6) Wait for more than 5minutes after turning power off before removing
. the cover! !
The temperatures of the inverter,brake resistance,etc. in the control
panel rises high during operation.
When it is required to remove the cover for inspection or servicing,be
sure to leave the machine for more than 5minutes after turning its
power off to wait for the internal components to be cooled down.

(7) Do not operate the machine with its cover removed! !


It would be very dangerous if the finger,cuff,etc. of the operator is
entangled in the internal components.

(8) Turn power off before accessing electric wiring or components!


Be sure to turn power off before touching electric wiring.
The motor,inverter and brake resistance are subject to hight voltage
and their temperatures rise very high during operation.
Touching these components during operation runs the rise of electric
shock hazard or burning yourself.

2.Preparation Before Operation
1. Installing the machine
Fix the machine on the work bench by means on the holes on the base.

2. Removing the anti-rust oil


Wipe away the anti-rust oil applied to the machine parts.

3. Lubrication
Lubricate the machine periodically with the following procedure.

4. Connecting the power supply


Connect the 2-meter,4-conductor cabtyre cable from the rear of the machine
to a power supply which is protected by a no-fuse circuit breaker or leakage
power breaker.
The green wire is the grounding wire(E=Earth);be sure to connect it to the
ground.
The rated capacity of the machine is 3kVA.

}connect to power supply(3-phase 200V).

Connect to GND.

(2) Home position indicator
This LED lights when the spindle is located in the home position.

(3) Alarm indicator


This LED light up in case of abnormality.The details can be confirmed with
the number shown on the LED display when the X/ALARM indicator is lit.

(4) Mode indicators


One of the LEDs light to indicate AUTO,INCHING,STEP,EDIT or
PARAMETER as the current mode.

AUTO The machine is ready for program operation.

INCHING The spindle can be moved to the desired


position by presssing the G/+ and M/- buttons.
Pressing the G/+ button moves the spindle up and
pressing the MI- button moves it down.

STEP The spindle can be moved by a specific distance by


pressing the G/+ and MI- buttons.
Pressing the G/+ button moves the spindle up and
pressing the M/ - button moves it down.
PROGRAM .... This mode is used to input or edit the program.
The program input or editing operation can be
controlled with the program control kyes.
PARAMETER . . This mode is used to edit parameters into the
program control keys.

(5) EDIT/OPERATIONstatus indicators
These LEDs indicate the detail of the operation status in each mode.

Status Mode Details


The position of the spindle with respect to
AUTO,INCHING,S the home position is shown in 1/100mm
TEP steps on the LED display.
The "+" sign is displayed if the current
G/POSITION position is above the home position and the
"-" sign is displayed if it is below the home
position.

EDIT The G code number is shown on the LED


display.

AUTO,INCHING,S The deviation of each step in the program is


TEP shown in 1/100mm steps on the LED
M/Deviation display.

. EDIT The M code number is shown on the LED


display.

AUTO,INCHING,S The ON/OFF status of the external input


TEP signal is shown on the LED display.

This keyboad is used in the program and parameter editing operations.
Use the 20 keys for other operations than the program startup, )
( shutdown.return-to home and spindle speed change operations. )

Key Details
Press to reset abnormality.(Press after removeing the
cause of abnormality.)
Press to clear the previously input data during data
Reset entry operation.

Press to stop automatic operation in the middle.
(Note that the main shaft is also stopped.)
Press to reset alarm.
Pressing this button during operation of a lower-level
Mode operation in a mode returns to the highest level of the
mode.

(7) START button
Press in the AUTO mode to start the selected program.

(8) RETURN button


During automatic operation,press this button to abort the operation and
return to the home position.(The spindle stops and the timing can be
set with a parameter.)
During other operation than automatic operation,press to return to the
home position.

(9) SPINDLE SPEED control


This knob abjusts the rotation speed of the spindle motor.
Rotating the control clockwise increases the motor speed.

(10) EMERGENCY STOP button


Press for immediate total shutdown of the system.

5-6.2 Canceling of Soft Limit at Turning on Power Supply


When turning on the power supply, it is capable to make the soft limit invalid
until returning to the origin is completed by means of power-on with pushing

9-2.2 Checking in case the inverter ERROR indicator lights

CDIdentify the inverter location. Remove the control panel cover from the
rear of the machine.
@Read the inverter error code. Read the code shown on the inverter's
monitor display.

WARRANTY
1 Free Repairs
1) If a malfunction or a failure occurs during the normal use strictly based on the operation guidelines (given in

'. the Instruction Manual), the Instruction Manual, the signal-word labels, and other instructions, then it is
repaired free of charge within the warranty period.
2) Our warranty only covers the delivered main unit and does not apply to any loss and/or damage, direct or
indirect, resulting from such malfunction or failure.
3) The warranty remains valid for one year after the delivery.

2 Charged repairs
o The repairs after the warranty period and those in the following cases within the warranty period are charged
to you:
1) A malfunction, failure, or damage has resulted from the misuse ofthe machine; or from the modification or
repair made without obtaining our consent.
2) A malfunction, failure, or damage has resulted from fire, acts ofGod, lightning, abnormal voltage, or any other
unpredictable situation.
3) A malfunction, failure, or damage has resulted from your improper handling such as falling during the
transportation or transfer by you.
4) A malfunction, failure, or damage has occurred because you have failed to follow the operation guidelines.
5) Consumable items have been used up, worn out, or otherwise have deteriorated after the normal use.
